Just bought a new laptop last week.

At the moment, the antivirus is covered by a free version of McAfee Brower Protector, use firefox and I only visit sites I know well (and no p0rn haha) , but CC Cleaner seems to clear a helluva lot of stuff considering how little sites I actually visit.

Is there something else I should be using to stop all that crap from getting there in the first place?

They might be totally harmless, outside the tools I use for annoying lads Im not too savvy on this kind of stuff so any help would be appreciated Very Happy

@ gaz, have you removed all the bloatware/crapware on the computer?

If not, you might need the Decrapifier, removes a lot of preinstalled rubbish from laptops especially:

C Cleaner basically removes temp, log, cache and other files that accumulate during normal computer operation and web surfing. There is nothing necessarily dangerous about the files that C Cleaner finds. It just frees up the space that those unneeded files occupy.

When you buy a new computer that has a pre-installed OS they also include a ton of crap and resource hogs. I cleaned a new laptop the other day for a friend. It had a ton of useless crap running in the background that many would never use, unless you want to create a custom birthday card for your grandmother. Check what programs are set to run in the background on startup, you will be surprised with the junk the OEM puts there.
