After trying a few stra1ght-baits, I dec1ded to try to score a trophy from a lad. Th1s time I want him to fill out a form, since it looks like it is the easiest to achieve. This bait actually started as an attempted insult bait.

I pose as N@th@n 5t0ne. My emails will be written in normal text.
My lad is R1ch@rd J0hn50n. His emails will be written in italics.

Dear Sir

I received an email from you recently, in which I was urged to agree to a business relationship with you. I realize that this reply is late, but I hereby accept your offer and I will be sending you the 1500 GBP transactional fee as you requested. For my details, I would like to refer you to my Homepage; *Link removed to protect the innocent*. My company name is Pain Serie, it is a film studio specialising in action and horror movies.

He obviously didn't click the (now removed) link. He also didn't notice that I signed the mail with a different name than the one regisered to my baiter address.

Dear Mr. R1ch@rd J0hn50n

In the past I have often entrusted FedEx with my deliveries, and I see no reason to change that habit. My motto has always been "You get what you pay for", so the extra $20 i spend using FedEx is only of benefit to both you and myself. In an attempt to prove my interest in this transaction, I will take it upon myself to pay for the FedEx delivery.

If you need anything more from me before we proceed, please don't hesitate to ask.

Sincerely yours

First of all, I must insist that you do not send duplicates of your e-mails! I have 8 emails in my inbox. Every one is the same, and every one is from you! Please, send me only one email per reply.

Back to our deal. I will go to the Western Union office later today. It is a three hour drive to the nearest Western Union office from where I am now, so I have to wait until my wife returns with the car.

On the other hand, couldn't you just send the package with payment delivery. That way I can pay the deliveryman when we arrives with the package and he will forward it to you. That would be the easiest option. Do you agree?

Looking forward to hearing from you

Good day to you and the family, and i do hope that this mail do fine's you in the right state of mind?

I must apologise for the late response to your mail, which was due to the fact that i was away from the office for an official assignment for about 6 working hours today, please i am very sorry.I have received your mail today in my office and all that you have stated was well noted and understoodable concerning the delivery of your Cheque.

Immediately i came back to the Office and read your mail,i have made my journey to the FedEx Courier Company and explained to the Director of the FedEx Courier company all that you have said,as regards to the delivery of your package to your door step before you will have the delivery fees($190.00) paid as charged,But the director have categorically stated it to me, that they will not go against their policies and protocol that it is mainly based on Payment before delivery,as this payment will be used to sort out all the delivery expenses, such as the Insurance, the Vat and it delivery.so there fore in regards to this ,she (the Director of the Fedex Courier Company)had basically insisted that we will have to pay up the delivery fees, inorder to enable the delivery man/ team effect or enhance the delivery of your International Bank Draft Cheque to your door step.

In Regards to the above,i will certainly advice that you have the delivery fees sent immediately as we do not have enough time on our side, and do bear in mind that you have to act fast,as your cheque do have a week more to it expiring date, and within this time you have to act swiftly,so we can have it delivered to you and cleared in your Bank.also i do hope that all that i have implied above is well understood?

Thank you for your reply. I do not have anything against having to use a money transfer courier - as long as I know the reason. Though, I have never used Western Unio or Moneygram before, so I do not know how they work. I went to their office yesterday nd inquired about sending money, and was told to fill out some form, but the attendant at the desk didn't have the form I was looking for, so I was forced to leave empty-handed, so to speak.

Can you do me a favor, Mr. J0hn50n? Pick up a send form for Western Union, scan it and send it to me, so that I may send you the money?

Awaiting your reply

So that's so far the bait has gotten so far. I am still waiting for a reply to the last email I sent him, and I have prepared myself with \/\/U receipts for later.

How am I doing so far? Please leave feedback and suggestions on what to do next or what I could have done better.

Nice start Larson. As a quick note, in the future can you change just a letter or two in a name, not a global i=1 and s=5 because (at least for me) does not make reading easy.

You are running your bait very well. The only suggestion I would make would be instead of asking him to scan you a WU form, use the chance to send him forms that are required to be filled out. There are many forms here on this site you could choose from such as Homeland Security forms. Those will require a lot more work than him scanning one form.

Keep up the good bait, can't wait to see how this continues.

If you would like to inspect the slip, I'm afraid you will have to wait until tomorrow, because I have to change the fluorescent tube in my scanner before I can scan anything. In the mean time, why don't you send me a photograph of the cheques I will be receiving? I always prefer to know what is waiting for me at the end of a business deal.

I am looking forward to seeing the picture of the cheque.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what kind of information you want, or what information you are referencing to, since I haven't made any Western Union transfers before. I actually had to ask the lady behind the desk about some of the spaces. Therefore I find it easier to scan the slip and send you the image. I got my scanner repaired, by the way. The flourescent tube came at a price of $9.50 at discount price.

Ever since I got the slip at the office I have had it in my breifcase, and I haven't even looked properly at it. I guessed you know what you are looking for, so I just put it under the scanner, cropped out the edges to conserve file space and attached it to this email. Let me know if there is something more you need.

I have received your mail therein with the scanned copy of the Western Union Payment Slip as you have attaced and forwarded to me.But i was unable to have the money picked up from the Western Union Office, and this was due to the fact that the information you have sent to me is not yet completed, and in this regards i can not have the money pulled out from the Western Union Office.

Now this is what i want you to do,go immediately to the western Union Office were you have paid this money and asked them to give you the MONEY TRANSFER CONTROLE NUMBER (MTCN NUMBER). Please take note this MTCN number is a 10 digit Number.

As i was unable to see it in the slip you have attached and sent to me, reason because there is a small slip that have been attached at the Top Right Hand side of the Orignal Western Union Slip, if you can have this said slip removed ,then may be probably the Needed MTCN NUMBER should be indicated at the said sport, then you can Scan only the Western Union Slip to me or on your own see if you can have this number written out and send it to me via email,as this will enable me have the money confirmed and pulled out from the western union office. But if the MTCN Number is not indicated therein then you will have to do as i have initially suggested above, that is go over to the Western Union Office and request for the MONEY TRANSFER CONTROLE NUMBER (MTCN NUMBER).

Please sir, with all due respect i patiently wait to hear from you unfailingly within the Next 3 hours from now,to enable me have this money pulled out today.else it will be on Monday Morning, and by then we will be having little or no time on our side,as the Delivery is based on 2-3 days Delivery Premium.so i will advice that you get back to me almost immediately.

I read your email and realized my mistake. I took the slip with me to the Western Union office to get the number you requested. They looked at the slip and searched their database for the transfer. They found it, but they said the due to the ammount of fraud that occurs in those parts of the world, both the sender and the reciever has to fill out some sort of anti-fraud form before they will release the MTCN number. I already filled out my form at the Westen Union office, and I was told to give you this form to fill out.

Once you have sent it back to me, I will take it with me to the Western Union office and get the MTCN number you need.

I am sorry, but the people at the Western Union office said that they would only accept a form that is filled out by hand, and the information you provided was insufficient to fill out the form. Please find a way to print it and scan it in again. As I told you before, Western Union has your $190, and they refuse to give me my money back before they recieve the filled out form.

As for my passport, my office is quite messy at the moment, but I will try to find it.

Please, Mr. J0hn50n. We are pressed for time, as you seid yourself. Find a way to print out the form. I have some suggestions:

1) Borrow the printer/scanner of a co-worker.

2) Do it at an Internet Café.

As soon as I recieve the forms and take them to Western Union, the sooner this transaction will be completed.

Awaiting your reply, and kind regards

I wonder what his next excuse will be.

Feedback and/or suggestions will be appreciated.

You are doing good, Larson. Just hold out on him until you get the form.
And give my condolences for the death and Burial of his Boss. Wink Smile

Yeaterday I went to the MoneyGram office downtown to make the payment. I filled out the slip and gave it to

the man behind the counter. He said that the transfer was cleared, but since the distance between the sender's

location and te recipient's location is greater than 15000 km, we have to fill out a form before they will

releace the MTCN to me. They said that they are required to do it like this from Homeland Security.

I have attached the reciept for the transfer and the scanned in forms to fill out.

Awaiting your reply, and kind regards

Dear N@th@n 5t0ne,

Good Morning to you and the family.

I got your mail today and one way or the other i kept having this feeling that you are just bitting arround the

bush and the other way round delaying the delivery of your cheque,as i am concerned in this,i have again seen

the forms you have attached and send to me and i really can not see any reasonable sence in it,i give you from

now till the next 18 working hours to get back to me with the REFERENCE NUMBER,else i will be left to

do nothing but return your cheque to the Companies accountant,as My Boss is late and he is the owner of this

fund in question and i do not know what transaction or deals you have been involvede with him,but all i stand

to do is follow up instructions and order's as given by my late boss.

You have just 4 days to delivery your cheque to your door step and have it cleared in your bank.

i wait to hear from you.

Yours faithfully,
J0hn50n R1ch@rds(Mr).

Please try to be reasonable. I went to the MoneyGram office and paid for the transfer like you instructed me

to. I also protested against the forms, but they woudn't budge. I am tired of filling them out myself, but they

told me that they would not give me the reference number before they had recieved this form.

Please just fill it out quickly so I can transfer the $190 to you.

Awaiting your reply, and kind regards

Dear N@th@n 5t0ne,

Best regards to you all, how are you doing today? and hope all is well with every one? i hope that this mail do

finds you in the right state of mind and condition as i do expected?

I have again received your mail today in my office and all that have been stated, have been acknowledged and

well taken, but i have seen and assumed in my own view that, since you can't bear or take the responsibility of

the cost of delivery of your cheque to you, and all effort that i have made to clarify this to you have been all to

no avail. instead you have assumed it the other way round or some thing best known to you, And that is an

insult to me and this firm that i have worked with in the previous years now.

Strongely i will sincerely adviced that, you get back to me with an Official Letter Of Refusal of your cheque,

as i have tried all i could towards the delivery of your cheque, so i do believe that an Official Letter of refusal

will do, as i will have to forward to my late boss personal accountant to have it documented.

Please i will advice that you treat this Issue ultmostly, As i will wait your quick response as regards to this,

because i will like to attend to other official matters .thanks and do extend my regards to the family, have a

lovely day.

Yours faithfully,

I am wondering, did you even read my email? I said very clearly, that all this time I have tried to transfer the

money to you, but every time I need you to do something to enable the transfer, you refuse to cooperate.

The $190 is still waiting for you at the Moneygram office and it will be released when I deliver the filled out

form from Homeland Security to them. MoneyGram will not give me the MTCN Number before they get that

form.

Have I insulted you? In that case I appologise, but the thing is, it is not me who is making it difficult here, it is

you.

Just fill out the form and I'll send you the money.

Awaiting your reply, and kind regards

Sir as i have implied in my previous mail to you,the Attached form you have sent to me therein contain absurd

meaningless point's,as in as much as i am concerned in this, and i have been determine to work in good fate as

the oth i took before i came into thias office.i do not see any reason why i will have to fill one Anti-

Fraud/419 forms before we can have you delivery fees pulled out from The WESTERN UNION OFFICE OR

THE MONEY GRAM OFFICE,before we can paid for the cost of this delivery of your cheque, i will not do

that.if we have to have a total co-operation in this you just have to trust me and know that you are in save

hands,in as much as you follow up my instructions and orders,i don't think we have any problem delivering

your cheque via FEDEX COURIER COMPANY.

How ever i either expect you to get back to me with the Requested REFERENCE NUMBER or get back to

me with AN OFFICIAL LETTER OF REFUSAL.so i can have it file up and send to our companies

accountant, for future documentation. As i will not fill any rediculous forms.please take note.i wait to hear

from you as soon as possible, good day.

Note: Please i will want you to call me immediately you get this mail.this is my personal phone Number:

Do you think I want to fill out these forms? I have to fill them out too, you know! I will repeat myself:

MoneyGram will not give me the reference number if I don't give them the form filled by you. I do not have

any say in the matter, and I am as tired as you are, so please just fill it out and send it to me so that I can get

the MTCN number.

Doesn't really seem like much to do here other than maybe lightly slap him and hope that he's just bluffing.

I would just tell him that he is being horribly unprofessional and uncooperative and it isn't at all fair to you.

He's refusing to fill out a couple simple forms but at the same time expects you to draft him a "letter of refusal"?? What kind of crap is that!?

Interesting bait. This lad is a real prick! I would advise him to fill out the "letter of refusal" for you, using the information you provide him:

Name:
Email address:
Amount:
Reason: Incompetent and uncooperative secretary

Then of course demand a copy in jpg format... Just an idea...

Sounds like you may have been wasting your time looking for a trophy from this one. I think the constant repetition of the task was a giveaway from the start that he wasn't going to budge. Shame about all that work, but at least you've kept him occupied.

Though judging by how well he responds to your EMails I don't know quite how long he spent reading them.
