My condolences. I had to put down my beloved Sylvia in November of 2006, and I still miss her sometimes.

I've since re-adopted and have been making new memories with two new kitties since May 2007, but I still keep Sylvia alive in my heart. She was one special girl who was with me during some very challenging times.

RIP, Hooty.

From me and from Holy Smoke, a middle-aged gray Persian who is sitting on my lap right now, as he often does while I am online.

I brought his Bluepoint Himalayan mother Venus on her final visit to the vet this summer.
I know that she knew she was ill. She spent one last afternoon in the grass, in the sunshine, and then walked into the cat carrier as soon as I opened it.
I was the one sobbing while she sat on the vet's table without restraints, waiting for the needle with all the composure of the queen that she was.

And thank you, SlapHappy, for offering Hooty the blessing of a dignified death and release from suffering.

I'm so sorry to hear about Hooty, SH. He sounds like a wonderful companion.

That last trip to the vet is such a hard one, but the trip home is even harder. As I held Titania to say good-bye, she sat calmly and looked at me as if to say, "It's OK, Mommy. I know, and it's best this way."

As soon as I get a bigger place (with room for a cat to avoid wheels), there will be another cat in my life. In the meantime, I visit friends and adoption centers to get my "cat fix."

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Mom's fur baby - a graceful, but menacing, kitty named Elle - died of cancer last year. We still miss her very much.

I am so very sorry. Having lost 3 adorable cats I really sympathise. they are all like family and each have their own distinct personalities and clever in their own unique ways.

I lost one late last year. She was almost 16. I know how it feels. She wasn't a great surfer like Hooty, but she was a hell of a baiter as you can see in the pic.

I'm so very sorry for your loss SH. I was only thinking, earlier today how much he looked like a beautiful cat that I used to have. Thankfully Molly is still alive (AFAIK) but I had to have her and my other 3 re-homed due to (my) illness at the time.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your beautiful little guy. All cats die, but not all of them get a wonderful life with a loving owner first. He was a lucky boy to have had you and I know you gave him a happy life.
