They call it "daylight saving" here, checked the storage room, but it's still dark there. Laughing

just switched the clocks back here also ... the only benefit is an extra hour of sleep. Abolish this summer time nonsense ASAP as far as I'm concerned.

^ When ?? It's dark and cold when I go to work, and dark and cold when I go to bed ... and it will be after tomorrow .. where's the benefit? Must be idiots that thought this out, or I'm missing something.

I really dont get this changing of the time
Come winter we get up in the dark and come home in the dark, even with the change in the hour,

RL Stevenson had it right

In winter I get up at night
and dress by yellow candle light
In summer quite the other way
I have to go to bed by day...

It makes your evenings longer light in Summer so there's the saving of an hour of electricity, but with all bulbs now back to 7 or 8 Watt each, it isn't much.
Hey it was a nice argument once and nobody recalculated the results afterward.
I don't really care, cows don't have watches and neither do my horses.

But seriously: I'm an advocate of using as much daylight as possible, but switching times is not the answer. Maybe changing standard time could be.

I heard today at the radio in France they save the power equivalent to a city of half a million inhabitants a year.

My roommate gets up at 4 and leaves for work at 5, winter and summer. It's dark no matter what the calendar says.

BTW, for us Americans, we have an extra week of DST so the little kiddies don't have to trick or treat in the dark.

Clever me decided that I had an hours less sleep as the clocks' go back... I have to be out by 6 (I normally am up and about at 12ish) so i decided to pull an all nighter. Now I have an extras hour to waste. Might have a nap, but I don't trust myself to get up. I can turn off a password protected alarm in my sleep.

I guess I could finish wolves of the calla, I'm about a fifth of the way in now, so it should last the night.

Here in the USA we have to wait until November 2nd for it to change back. Sad

This is two days before our national election which means there will be monsters and ghouls on the streets with flash lights voting. Oh, wait, that's Halloween.....never mind.

Mostly automatic here. Woke up and turned on the bedside DAB radio. It thought about it for a few minutes, then updated. Radio controlled watch was showing the right time, as was the bedroom laptop (reading in bed is so 20th century).
My Windows Mobile 6 smartphone didn't update which surprised me. A common problem according to Google, but there seems to be a patch for it

Yup, kinda sucks. But another reason for the change is so that when people get out of work, they have more daylight hours in which to go shopping. People don't shop as much when it's dark outside. Too many criminals lurking around to mug you on the streets or parking lots. Mad
