Following her stroke on 2nd of August, she had the right side of her body paralyzed and was confined to bed and wheelchair.
Yesterday she had a final stroke, fell unconscious and agonized for 24 hours.
She passed away quietly today, at 16:30 EET.
May her gentle and loving soul rest in peace  |

My condolences for your loss.
It is relieving that she passed away quietly, as little a relieve this may be.
I wish you and your family all the strength you need to get over her loss.
Edit: And thank you for sharing. There are a lot of people here who care. And I think that, as unintended a side-effect this might be, visitors of this site who find threads like this one, may realize that, despite we're all pretty anonymous and sometimes hostile with our plans for the lads around here, we're real people with feelings and care for our fellow man. |

We were nearby, and we rushed in when my mother and her sister cried for us. I checked my grandma's pulse, but there was nothing to feel
I have the deepest remorse... Friday I could have visited, she was relatively ok back then; But I was myself ill, a bad case of chronic bronchitis, and I choose not to; 20 minutes after, I was sorry about my decision. I had a bad feeling about it. Call it psychic, premonition, etc. It was something like that... I felt that was my last chance to talk to her, and I blew it.
The same thing happened when her husband, my grandfather, decorated war hero that served in (my country's) Royal Mounted Guard in the last stages of WW2, was about to die.
It was 13 years ago, at the end of April. He was in hospital, for a mild operation, removal of kidney stones that emigrated to the bladder.
Last time I visited was on Easter Sunday, and he died the next Thursday.
During the night I was restless and I could not sleep... And at 5 AM, my ma called and told us grandpa has died in the ER, from septic shock. |

Right now I am listening Eastern Orthodox songs for the dear departed...
Tuesday I'll hear them live, sung by the village's priest, still young and good friend of mine... And together with my cousins, we'll carry the coffin to her final resting place, next to her husband.
The custom says that after the coffin is laid down in the grave, the dearest of the deceased must throw a handful of soil and spill some wine on the coffin. According to the same custom, I must be the first to do this.
I will honour her as well as I can... I am her only grandson. |
