Can anyone recommend any good 3rd party software for Logitech webcams, in particular the Quickcam 9000? I want some decent software to record directly to the Hard Drive.

The bundled software is crap for any kind of serious fiddling!

I want to stream 640x480 @ 30fps to my HD. It can be done with the bundled software (just!) but again, it's clunky and crap.

Shiver,

[EDIT] forget what I posted here a minute ago - that's not what you need. Sorry.

No, I cant recommend, as I don't do much video editing, but here are some promising looking candidates to take a peek at. I know you are on a fixed income, being retired and all, so I only looked for free apps. Wink

You didn't mention what OS, it looks like these are both for Win.

You could always trying installing Avid DV Free. If you make the incoming video signal a 'non-rolling' source it should capture at that frame rate. You will need to tell the program that you are recording at NTSC (which is the USA standard of 29.9 FPS - rounded up)

You won't get that aspect ration though. 640 x 480 is more a image frame size. NTSC, from memory is 720x480 (standard non-widescreen)

From there you can edit in that program and output to tape or file. Avid quicktime is probably your best bet, then use TMPEG encoder to crunch.
