I'll try - we had a profiles which had been bumped up to staff - unfortunately we had given the keys to a Black Listed Nigerian IP'.

OK this lad was cleaver - he was telling us he was from Belgium and he was anti scammer but this was so far from the truth.

We only found out our mistake when he forgot to switch IP's.

Another member of staff also told us that she was his fiancee - again safety first ruled the day and she was banned.

I am unsure of what damage those pair have done - Bill has been great and done loads of reporting their IP's.

Messy business and a steep learning curve.

I noticed how much you were doing to out scammers when profilelooker was in the hands of the pevious owners.

Bet you wish you had that delete button back then Wink

It is a massive task you have all undertaken and it is great to see some progress.

Within a week/10 days we will have our first clean site. I havn't worked out the figures quite but we are looking at about 45,000 scammer ID found so far. 1900 working days? 5 years work up in smoke? That's conservative at 15 mins/profile. Mind you they were probably running round in circles scamming each other. Laughing

I have sat here and read all the post on Looker sites. I am amazed about the different opinions. I been on two looker sites since last year and even got kick off for blogging the old owner. I was lucky that the new owner read my blogs just days before the deal was final. We have spoke by phone about the entire situation and he has learned much about scammers. He is committed to having a clean and safe social site and I for one wish more were that responsible. Many days and hours are donated to prevent new victims and keep people educated and protected as best possible. I do work all four sites as staff and we have brought numbers down by 2/3 in 3 months. We face each day and any new problem as a team and always offer our opinions. I can say these sites are more in control by the staff users then any other.

I do thank those here whom have offered and are helping. Frankly I get tired of hearing from victims that have lost their life savings. Most of us will never leave and keep on working the sites and bait elsewhere.

I would just like to let everyone know we have our first 100% clean site. It is Latinolooker. We began on the 14th April 2008, with a membership of about 19,000. Current membership is now 2,582 so we have caught 16,000 scammer profiles, give or take a few hundred until I get the better start figure. The IP ban list stands at 6763.
If the scammers had 30 mins site time, and it's usually more (2 hours) after sign up with a browse and mass mail lasting a couple of hours, this has wasted 333 days work at least. I like it very much. Very Happy

I have the text of the letter which, while containing the address, unfortunately does not contain the phone number... she had given him her number first and she has gotten his number after he spoke to her personally.

As far as this pertaining to Looker sites, I am new here (less than 30 minutes to be exact) and am not really familiar with the terminology. The scammer was operating through a site called Badoo and has since removed his profile (or had it removed).

The reason I posted in here is that this very scammer is discussed on the first page of this thread - in fact this is where I discovered the person in question was a recognised scammer (thanks Google) - my friend was asking my advice as to whether she should help this person out - she was one step away from be scammed!!??

I don't want the posting of the text to compromise her in any way (I am sure she is feeling humiliated enough already), so to ensure that it doesn't, I have removed any references that might make it traceable such as her name, country and date & time the message was sent:

No posting of the phone number is allowed as posting addresses and phone numbers without the original source of that information is against forum rules which can be found by clicking the "Forum Rules" link in my signature line. You can post the address since you have the original source.

That was a great link Lotta, straight to the page of one of my expert girls, the Dangerous Dee. We had an eater member turn up on PL yesterday only to run straight into one of our secret little security traps when they arrived back today. Having been caught on site was forced to come clean. That was OK because
"she" was given some presents among the days active scammer sign ups, an older very dangerous one that took some considerable unlocking , and "nices" from Senegal, who was able to enjoy some online time with "her", and uselessly spent about 1 1/2 hours as a guest there before being summarily dismissed. We are more confident now , and encourage all our new scammers to enjoy the freedom of the sites, carry out unrestricted mass mailings . We don't allow them to put email addresses in comments or message titles nor linked addresses. A touch of filtering renders messages useless and often hilarious, and the members are beginning to enjoy the entertainment resulting from it. If anyone here has a profile existing, or comes in with a new one, then they can always PM me here, and when they log in they will receive a bundle of new toys, and if lucky, one to play with while actively on line, take to the sites IM or CHAT page etc. Be aware that we have a 100% kill rate for dodgy signs, so you need to be truthful or very very good at hiding. We don't charge for home deliveries.

We have cleaned Datelooker, and shortly we will have finished Profilelooker too. Blacklooker is still proving a tricky job and we have a couple of months left on that. An awful lot of work has gone into this job- 4 months of continuous work. Myself and two other Site Admins there are 419e members. We intend to keep the sites clean, but it can be difficult since we have noticed considerable improvements in technical ability from the opposition. Currently we are having a surge in attacks, and the old one "remember distance and colour don't matter, but love matters a lot" keeps on having a go. It would be appreciated if members took off their fake profiles on the sites. There is nothing to do any more. It is best left to us.
