Firefox doesn't get confused. It treats the first slug properly, and shrinks it to fit screen, but you can zoom it out an see all of it.

The second slug just went "this image cannot be displayed because it contains errors".

IE 7 doesn't choke either... maybe the lads are using older browsers?

I just sent the following questions to my lad who has been at it for the past two days:

Ok, forget the oversized images. It looks like most browsers will not crash.

Next idea (Inspector Gadget) : Could you have an option to allow the bottom
half of the picture to be something else than the original uploaded jpeg?

Yes. How about random black and white pixels? Like static on a TV?
Ok, this is now another "modality" choice.

Next idea (tigertale) : submit button for clueless lads, site wording.

Done.

Why not have the bottom half state in a format like an error message

Hiya master baiters,

As suggested by some, there is now a "custom error message"
modality, so you can have an error message with a red border
appear as part of the image itself, after the cutoff percentage.
You can choose your own error message, like "Image intercepted
by Mr. Gomer", or "Attempted image interception detected,
aborting image transmission". Of course, you could also add
this to your image before uploading it, but this is perhaps
more convenient.

Also, the front page for the website has been re-done by
Thomas-the-Tank. It looks much more professional that I
could have ever managed. Thanks!

If you guys have any more ideas for improving this service,
please let me know.

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to serve up the bottom half of the image with bright pink static that looks like an image error.

Edit:

Or possibly, have the lower lines alternately remove color information from the lines (to tint the lines different colors, becoming barely readable), and then the lower half is the static. It could be random, so it looks different every time.

Or maybe just the slow image is nice in its simplicity. Smile

Excellent tool.

One thing I notice is that Moneygram receipts have the reference number in the top right hand corner.

This means that the lad will get to see it if the image fills in from top of the screen down. Is it possible to have the image appear from left to right?

Or I'll just have to remember to scan the picture in upside down...

Fantastic tool Bosoman, thanks for this.

I’m using am upside-down image of my Moneygram receipt in the hope that the lads will be turning their heads to try to read it as the receipt is slowly revealed. The wording on the receipt refers them to the mtcn printed at the top which, of course, they never get to see because the custom message cuts in first.

one lad waited the whole 3600 seconds
and sent me the picture to prove it

pity he waited so long to see my error message at the bottom of it
and he had the cheek to complain and wanted me to rescan it
