Darfur! I am sure that some problem is going to occur that will keep us from meeting him in Abeche. So, we will keep moving them further and further away from home. I really want to know the story of how they got there. We'll have to ask!
Right now these guys are about 1300 miles away from home. http://www.mapcrow.info/cgi-bin/cities_distance_airpt2.cgi?city3=-2805651%2CL&city4=-1613121%2CA There is VERY little hope that they are going to collect the WU money. And I am QUITE positive that don't have enough money to get back to Nigeria. Man, that must be miserable. 22 days in Chad. And nothing to show for it. I think this is by far the funniest safari I have done. This guy just keeps providing great signature material. My favourite is:

YW made a great point the other day... Imagine WANTING to be in Nigeria. I mean, he probably lives in a hell hole already. But he is longing to be back in that hell hole. What a pickle.

Like an emergency deep inside Sudan. The further he angles north of east the more he ventures into the outer reaches of the Sahara. |

^^ Yeah, I threw in that "...once we actually get on the road." bit for some laughs I doubt he'll ever find the humor in it though, which is a real shame. They say laughter is the best medicine, and I have a funny feeling that once the malnutrition really sets in, he'll be unable to really fend off whatever nasty disease thrives in 105-108 degree heat. |

At this point I wonder to myself, what would make me feel sorry for a lad? Sure as hell not this anyway - this just keeps getting better! |

That makes me think... the other day Prof and I were checking the weather in Chad. Last Tuesday was a particularly "hash" day. The high was 108. That's pretty rough. However, the worst part was the low temperature. It was 91. What kind of low is that? A great one from our end, but a MISERABLE one for the guy wandering about all day. He said he had never experienced weather like that before. I figured Nigeria was just as hot. It is not though. That sub-Sahara heat is something else. Those temps are a good 10-15 degrees hotter than Lagos. |

Pah!!!! 108, these lads are just not making the effort. Last summer we had highs of 120. Ok so we have AC but I still have to go outside to smoke!!!!!
This lads constant complaining is really starting to get on my nerves. If they keep it up then tell them about the long hot summer of '76 when there was a hosepipe ban in Essex and Kent, see what they have to say about that. |

Call me a no-fun lad-hugger, but I reached that point early on. Yes, he is a scammer, and scumwad. On the other hand, he is also, technically speaking, a human being, and I have been wincing whenever anyone gleefully expresses the possibility that he might die.
Don't get me wrong, I'm laughing my head off. But I'm also feeling a bit uneasy as I'm laughing. |

Be VERY glad that you're not in our morning chat strategy sessions. If this thread makes you wince, reading any of that would probably make you throw up in your mouth a bit. |

My audio is down right now. I got nothing on the laptop, and it's a hardware problem, so it's not getting fixed anytime soon. It'll take 3-5 days to send it/get it back, and I'm not missing any of this. I really wish I could hear this call.
With you as the accountant, and Skinner placing a call later, I know the lad is in good hands though. I just wish I could hear him. |

^^ The driver is to be paid with the non-existent money at the WU office. He's the one that has the phone. He was shown the WU Secure receipt that had to be collected in Abeche as proof. |

I am pretty sure that once this ass picks up his money, he should head off to purchase some hearing aids. Great phone call Weasel. |

That was hilarious. Nice call Weasel.
maggie- I am quite sure he showed the driver the fake WU receipt to get to Abeche. My theory is this... the driver will get to Abeche and be SO pissed that there is no money. He will (hopefully) strand their arse right there. I have a strong feeling that we are going to lose contact soon. They cannot have any money at this point, because their email checking is scarce at best. And that is their life line. |

This is starting to take on the elements of an epic film production. Three characters are at the end of a long journey in a hot, dry place with two hundred thousand dollars at stake.

Absolutely great call indeed, Weasel. That mugu sounds frantic, which is just the way I like to hear them.
Quote: |
Don't get me wrong, I'm laughing my head off. But I'm also feeling a bit uneasy as I'm laughing. |
I won't pretend I feel bad about laughing at this lad's misery, and I won't pretend that I would care in the slightest if something very bad happened to him. In fact I'm hoping there's worse to come for him, and can't wait to see what's in store for him, as long as it's bad.
I was away for a few months, and somebody who knows my line of thinking told me to read this thread because they knew I would love it. I read it all last night. This whole bait is sadistic, demented, twisted, and downright cruel on so many levels--I love it. It's one of the best I've read (and listened to) in a long time, and it makes me glad I found my ass back to this site.
It'll suck to see this one end, but something tells me it's going to suck even worse for these mugus. |

I think the "end" of this bait will be a mystery. I am confident that soon we will just no longer hear from them. That will be bittersweet. |
