This is my first scam bait, my thanks to my mentor Slightlyoutofit who was invaluable in stringing out this lad and to Marvinator for his Western Union form.
A bit of background
Baitee: Qin Wang Liu, supposed accountant at HK railways with access to $13,000,000 to give away BOLD

Baiter: Dr X, a surgeon trying to help out Liu as well as sell some real estate ITALICS

I introduce myself as Mr. Qin Wang Liu, a staff in the accounts
Management Section of a well known Bank here in Hong Kong.
One of our accounts with holding balance of 13,500,000
(Thirteen million five hundred Thousand United State Dollars) has
Been dormant and last operated in the past 7 years.
From my investigations and confirmations, the owner of this account is
a Foreigner by name Karl Robb, who died on the 4th of January 2002 on a
Boat mishap along one of the many creeks in the delta region of the
country.

Since then nobody has done anything as regards the claiming of this
Money as he has no family Member who is aware of the existence of
Either the account nor the Fund.

He was a contractor with the Chinese Railway Authorities.
Information from the National Immigration also states that he was
Single on entry into Hong Kong.

I have confidentially discussed this issue with some of the Bank
officials and We have agreed to find a reliable foreign partner to deal with.
We thus propose to do business with you, standing in as next of kin,
for these funds, and having these funds transferred in your name and favor.
To actualize this you will have to open an offshore account In the UK to

My Dear Liu,
So very sorry to delay once again but I'm not very happy with Western Union. The stories that I've heard about transferring money using this method don't inspire confidence and I would much rather use a bank to bank transfer. It is a much safer secure method to move money around the internet and it really would put my mind at ease to know that my hard earned dollars are safe and secure in the method.

I have tried to make a payment but it has been rejected???? The exact wording "Rejected Pending Receiving Account Closure". Please explain how this can be happening??? What kind of operation is this? I am a very busy surgeon as I have already said, I am in the process of renovating a storm damaged house as I have already stated getting it ready to sell so that I can consolidate my finances. Do you take me for a fool? I am very distressed by this turn of events and if you would like to continue this so called 'Business' venture I would start pulling up my damn socks pretty damn smartly

have also furnished. If truly you want to have this work, go to either

transfer. there is nothing wrong with my Bank account. It receives money
daily from all over.

If I sounded offhand before its because I have tried to process payment and the screen says Account due for closure or something
I suggest that you get down to your bank and see if they have any record of an attempted transferal or something of that nature

If this fails then pehaps some other method can be employed to process payment. Even though I must admit there must be something
wrong with the account. I have been under some stress of late as I've mentioned what with running a busy practice and finally it
looks like the house will be repaired sooner rather than later with my insurance claim payment of $127.000.

Now please this is important to me as it is to you so be a good chap and try to have a look at the details your end

from home, this is an international account, what you have to do is go to
your bank branch and tell them you want to transfer funds into the account
with the details i have provided to you, Your bank will then make this
transfer for you. It is not what you can do at home over the internet.

My account is a local account and to send money to this account you need to
go to your Bank, ask them you wish to make an international bank transfer
and them give to them the details i have provided for my account, and your
bank will assit you to make the needed international wire transfer.

The receipt from your bank for helping you make this transfer should be sent
to me via email attachment. So my brother you need to go to your local bank
branch to be able to make the transfer for this 3,300.00 pounds (British
Pounds) into my account. Go to your bankers and bank now.

I've been to my bank today to try and transfer the money like requested but for some unknown reason it keeps bouncing back. The teller asked me if the details were correct and as far as my knowledge concerns it is. The following account details are what I tried to use

I asked them to check the details again and they reported back that indeed no such account exists.
Is there some other way that we could commence this transfer without using this account, obviously something

He then gave me a contact banking website in which to setup this deal which I did only to have it shutdown for some unknown reason, it's still offline, can you explain this to me?

He then gave me a bank account to which I should transfer the money to which I tried to do only
to have the teller quote me the account "No longer existed", can you explain this to me Mr Morris?

As far as being unimaginative I can only assume that you are an accountant whose imagination reaches only as far as the keyboard that you sit in front of right now.
