EXIF data can be checked with the Firefox plugin called EXIF viewer. That's how I do it nowadays.

Forgive my lack of knowledge on this, but how does EXIF data help? From what I can see, it can help me determine if it's an amateur or professional shot. Am I on the right track? What else can I do?

For one thing, it can tell you if the photo your vlad took "just for you" really was, or if it was Photoshopped at a later date. There are also some other clever tricks. See if you can spot one using these 2 identical pictures.

I can see the first one has a lot of references to Photoshop (especially the setting "Software/Firmware Version = Adobe Photoshop 7.0").

The second one also has the same setting (Software/Firmware Version = Adobe Photoshop 7.0) but also includes a message (Image Description = HELLO FELLOW BAITERS!!!!).

So, I would say both of them are fake because they're photoshopped.

Now looking at some of the photos on the other page, I see the following parameters:

# Camera Make = Canon
# Camera Model = Canon PowerShot A610

This tells me the pictures were taken from a Canon Camera (aka. Authentic pictures).

How'd I do?

Wayne... in my thread http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=124280 it says the data is blocked. Is my vlad too clever for me!?

Pretty good. Not all pics will have EXIF data, and some will show both the date/time it was taken, along with all that information as well as if/when it was Photoshopped. It's an extra tool to help fight lads. The "HELLO FELLOW BAITERS" thing was just to prove that extra info can be added to a picture if you want to.

I have gone through and most of my pictures don't have any readable data. Is there another tool?

If there's no info there, then there's nothing you can do. Not all pictures will have it, but almost always if it's been Photoshopped there'll be signs that it has.

@wayne... I have pounced on some of the lads in your list. Mainly inheritance scammers without much love interest. Miss Ghana has been referred to my PA so we can get down and dirty which he/she seems uncomfortable with... not my problem!
