Ok I'm stumped.
I received 2 boxes today from overseas, Stuff I ordered before christmas.
Each carton had 4 smaller cartons with an electronics product inside One of the cartons had been opened and three paving stones or small rectangular bricks had been inserted inside one of the internal boxes. The item inside suffered from being bashed around by the bricks.

My only thoughts are
a) the courier wanted to bump up his fees - unlikley
b) something of a similar weight was smuggled into the country and the bricks placed in to represent the item once it had been removed.

Did I just miss out in 3 kilos of heroin Shocked

You should report it to the Post Master. Something doesn't sound right, and they may be able to trace the package back to see when it may have been opened. Just a thought.

I've reported it to the agent at this end and the manufacture over there but neither seem all that interested. Go figure

@harrya, if you are in Australia, customs and quarantine have the right to open any parcel entering the country. They will leave a leaflet inside the package and reseal it with an "Opened by Australia Post for inspection by quarantine" sticky tape. Err re-reading your post, was it a courier delivery? The parcels would still have been inspected, resealed and flagged as OK

I'd make some enquiries very soon, as you did not order paving bricks and your goods did not arrive in the condition you expected.

Seven of Nine is right Harrya. My daughter received a parcel from Brazil and it was opened by customs, resealed, a letter put inside telling us and a sticker on the outside saying 'opened for inspection'. I would definetly tell somebody in the relevant office as obviously something has been in the box, other than paving stones. Let us know if you find out anything.

The bricks are solid, As much as I'd like to smash them I'm pretty sure they are nothing but ballast. I'll do some pics tonight and post them.

Sounds the most likely explanation. The question is who did the swap? Obviously not customs so the package must either have been delivered via somewhere else first, or someone at the courier company is up to no good. Let us know what happens.

Please make sure you have all documentation relating to the purchase and freight of the goods available (including original order and payment info), including any recent correspondence with the freight company and suppliers. I'd suggest the packages and contents not be handled any further, be kept in as secure a location as possible and that you don't post any images (as previously suggested) here or elsewhere until after Customs, AFP have concluded their investigation.

But you've probably been asked to do this already.....

They did all the drug tests on the box and found nothing. There are more tests to be done back at the office. They are a bit confused how the box was missed at the airport check.
So it's still a mystery.

It could have been a trial run, besides, Customs may not tell you if they really found anything. At least not until they've convicted someone (or arrested you)!

Do you have restrictions on gold importations in Oz? If so they may have been smuggling that.
