I checked that yesterday� I see we have a willing barrister. It seems he was able to borrow $800, but needs $400 more for travel. Maybe he can wh0re himself out for that.

It looks like Namibia is going to present a real challenge. There is no cell phone coverage in most of the country. Talking to the lad while on the road is going to be quite tough. Email is not going to be much of an option either. I am going to have to try and talk him into renting a satellite phone.

this might be a safe bet.
this one seems quite expensive but it might be difficult to persuade him to go with it.
the daily rental on this one is $9.95 and $3 a minute. the only problem is that they dont seem to ship to Nigeria.
$14 a day but it looks like they would have to ship from New York.
Im thinking that the first link is probably the one to go with, it looks like a detour and he might be able to pick up a GPS locator if they sell them. I guess youve already had a look at these links but i thought a quick analysis might help.

You could always send him (in all innocence) to the phone lads first, If he's money to waste - they've got any phone you can think of, and then some! Very Happy

It'd be fun if he had to explain to you how some of his countrymen are not entirely honest!

BTW I thought he was going to push you harder on the contract issue but he sems to have backed off. Whats your plan if he comes back on that again -do you think the usual delaying modalities will be enough?

Any chance of getting him to Katima Mulilo en route to the Skeleton Coast (nice long detour)? I spent 3 months there in the '80s. The mugu will be doing a Safari, and I will be going on a major nostalgia trip.

This is the road to Katima Mulilo, along the Caprivi strip. It is a loooong road. It is a hot road Twisted Evil

It wasn't tarred when I was there, unfortunately it is now, so there'll be less dust and fewer snakes and scorpions ....
