I tried to Google 'boat hire Walvis Bay', but just got day/fishing trips. A seagoing mugu in persuit of a floating trunkbox would be uncharted waters..... |

YW -- I have been away for a week = = = did I miss anything <g>.
Seriously, the prevailing currents would carry the trunk box northward - - possibly towards an eventual Nigerian landfall in a couple of weeks.

Yes. The box of money is going to keep moving North. Even after I no longer hear from the lads. I suspect that they will just give up with me and try to recover it for themselves. And yes, it will keep heading North all the way to Nigeria. |

Do I smell an "mass ASEM" from Troy to the Lagos Lads indicating that the money has just washed up on the Nigerian coastline about 220km North/South of Lagos?
This couldn't possibly result in a "mass safari" up/down the Nigerian coastline? |

I would love to somehow convince a Nigerian newspaper that this is for real and on its way to Nigerian waters. |

Problem with that is average ordinary Nigerians will be running for the coast too. You want something that is described in the advertising world as "target marketing."
How about a mass ASEM using a bullshit press clipping from a real South African newspaper? The story can say that "Troy was arrested, his GPRS equipment was analyzed and that the tracking equipment indicates that the money is headed North. Experts believe that the tides and currents will wash the money box up on the Nigerian coast in the next few days."
If the ASEM and news clipping is sent from a South African senior Lad to his junior Lad in Lagos but accidentally gets sent to thousands of Lads, the Lads should believe it.
It sets up "murder on the Nigerian coast." |

Could you imagine....thousands of lads combing the beach all looking for a trunk box that doesn't exist? The visual of that is too funny. |

YW, it seems like these guys are trying to "get over" on you by not giving you the sat-phone number. I'd tell them "look, if I can't get the number to talk to your brother-in-law, then I'll remotely turn off the tracker right now. I have that capability."
Do it soon before he thinks he's close enough to be able to find it without the tracker |

It's a good thing that my 5 year old woke up early today. The lad has already left to get the money. It's time for it to start floating away. |

<<<<<<<<Drumroll>>>>>>>>>>
Only comment at this point might be to reduce the elevation above sea level to maybe about 3'.
13' might have been a bit excessive unless they have some king tides. But then of course anything is possible. |

Yeah! The plot twist!
Althought, it is odd the money floats with constant velocity... It must know where to go |

[sound of javascript coding]Good idea. Working on it.
edit: Fixed. Although you have to hit refresh to see the change. Hopefully the lad will be smart enough to hit refresh. |

OOps - somethinga not worka di properly
I'm seeing this as the horizontal velocity:
3function addRandomNbr() { return (Math.round(Math.random() * 1000)) / 1000; }
and this as the vertical velocity:
0.1function addRandomNbr() { return (Math.round(Math.random() * 1000)) / 1000; } |

Are you seeing it now? I hope that I am not running into the calssic problem where JavaScript works one way on one browser and then another way on another browser. If that is the case, I am going to have to hard code the number. |

Seems you fixed it
Horizontal 3.377
Vertical 0.862
BUT Sometimes though I get some very longa di number like:
Vertical velocity 0.30200000000000005
Not that it matters, but might look a little suspicious sometimes. The real trackers don't seem to have that happening.
FYI I'm using :
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4
IE6 also shows same symptom (long numbers)
Version 6.0.2900.2180 bla bla.... |

Looks fine on Mac Safari (wonderfully appropriate name!). Just one thing: [dumb question] the velocities are different depending on which zoom level you look at. Should they be like this?[/dumb question]
Edit: I also get the very long number thing, though. |

I have randomized them to be just a hair over 3 mph for horizontal and just under 1 MPH vertical. I think that everything should be working OK now. CAN ANYONE STILL SEE ANYTHING OTHER THAN NUMBERS IN THOSE FIELDS?
As a side note, I have not heard from any of the lads yet. |

Nope, perfect now on Safari. Long numbers also no longer appearing. |
