I've posted an identity on a couple of sites...and had the usual flood of responses.

Most of them I can hardly get by the first profile without LMFAO...

I got a response & profile today that seems TOTALLY genuine..you can PM me for the info. I can't find a chink in it...

What do you do with a "real" contact? Explain yourself, play along, or ignore?

Maybe I made my bait too real...

You can send a polite reply saying you 'found' somebody, or just ignore her. You may also try to block her from contacting you. Don't be rude, don't tell them what you're doing. Some people will be more pissed at you than the scammers!
You don't need much in your profile. The less details the better. You don't need to claim you're rich, etc.
Usually I post as little in the profile as I can get away with. The only details the scammers care about are that you're male, between 25 and 65, and are looking for a lady.
If the dating site has a means for you to check how many times your profile has been viewed, you'll often notice its been viewed a handful of times, but you've been contacted by a much higher number of ladies who claim they 'love' your profile!
Most don't bother to look at the profile. They just do a search for males in the target age, and pm them withoug looking at the profile, often hundreds at a time.
You can play around with putting some text in your profile that would scare off real ladies.
'Out of work, need woman with good job and income who can keep a house clean and wait on me hand and foot. No children accepted.'

My datinggrounds profile consists of ... absolutely nothing. And I still get enough bites to keep me busy.

Obviously "I say it best when I type nothing at all" Shocked
