i got pmed by a woman from the UK. <cliff notes> she said she was a model and sent pics. conversation went on for a long time over several days. she sounded generally interested. over the last few times we talked, she is in africa on a modeling contract, in nigeria ogun state. she said she was paid for a gig in a M.O. for 2500... she now wants me to recieve the MO and buy a lap top and camcorder used.... and send the rest back. she swears up and down that its not a scam. whaT DO YOU THINK? |

Everything about it says scam. If you read through the threads you'll see similar stories. A lad gets some pictures of a model off a modelling agency site, claims to be a model in Nigeria on assignment and either asks for money because her payment hasn't come through or asks you to cash the money order. Post up her picture and the headers to her emails and we can bait her. But remember, "she" has your real details so don't try it yourself. Welcome to the Eater BTW. Read up and have fun  |

she wants to send me 20000 after her contract so we can use it to buy a house lol
she has never asked for money, just to cash this mo and buy a laptop and cancorder.... what is their goal here? are they banking on me not letting the MO clear so i use my money to purchase items and then get screwed since it was fake?

She will send you a fake check, your bank will provisionally clear it but then when they find out 2/3 weeks later that its fake, you are stuck with a worthless cheque and a BIG bank bill.
Its a very common scam and a lot of people get suckered like this, well done for doing some research. |

I'll echo what the others said, but if you're adamant on trying this, at least warn your bank that it COULD be a fake, and that they take extra pains at clearing the funds. If they credit you, wait a month before touching the cash, even though the bank says it's okay.
If you do deposit the check, get a (written) promise from the bank that they will do everything they can to check it out before clearing it.
