Sometimes emails from dating sites get treated as spam, so make sure you check your spam folder too just in case

The way it has worked with me is the following:
On my homepage of the romance site of Mail.com there is a link on the left labeled My Emails.
There is also a notation saying:
You have 0 emails and 0 smiles.
When you see a new email has arrived, clink on that link. It will take you to the message sent by the scammer. At that point you can click on reply. But the scammer will request you send him an email from your email account. It is best to do everything off the romance site because the number of emails you can send, without paying, is limited. You will also be blocked from seeing his profile so future communication is impossible.
There will also be an email message sent to the registered email account that a new email has arrived.
