Right now I'm 3 weeks into my first bait, Next Of Kin format. I'm dealing with 'Mr. , International Relations Manager of Standard Trust Bank Lagos' and 'Barrister Esq. SAN.' Both of their mail headers have the same gilsat ip. Getting tired of their demands for money and their refusal to provide me with any trophies (death certificate, will, etc.), I decided to play slap the barrister.

Subject: PLEASE DO NOT UNDERESTIMAT ME.
ATTENTION BAITER NAME,
DEAR CLIENT,
LET ME REMIND YOU THAT I AM JUST AN ATTORNEY.IT IS NOT
IN THE ETHICS OF MY JOB AS A PROFESSIONAL LAWYER TO
PAY FEES FOR MY CLIENTS.THE FACT THAT MR
HAD KNOWN ME FOR SOME YEARS DOESN'T MEAN THAT I SHOULD
DO EVERYTHING THAT HAS TO BE DONE FOR MY CLIENTS ON
CHARITY BASIS.I RESPECT YOU AS A BUSINESS ASSOCIATE OF
MR AND I HAD TRIED MY BEST TO MAKE THIS EASIER
BY COLLECTING HALF MY CHARGES UPFRONT.NORMALLY I AM
SUPPOSED TO BE PAID FULL CHARGES BEFORE SERVICES CAN
BE RENDERED ACCORDINGLY TO WHOEVER I AM TO REPRESENT.
I HAVE GIVEN YOU MY WORD AS A LEGAL ADVICER AND AS
YOUR LAWYER IN THIS CASE.PLEASE DO NOT UNDER ESTIMATE
MY EXPERIENCE AT BAR,AS I UNDERSTAND THAT THE
TRANSACTION IS SURE AND REAL.I HAVE A LOT OF WORK ON
MY DESK AND DO NOT HAVE TOO MUCH TIME FOR ANYBODY WHO
FEELS THAT I HAVE TO GO OUT OF MY WAY TO GET DOCUMENTS
THAT ARE NORMALLY PREPARED BY THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT
OF JUSTICE.
WITH THE WAY THINGS ARE,I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO PLACE A
CALL TO MR TO MAKE HIM UNDERSTAND THE
SITUATION OF THINGS.
BEFORE COMING INTO THIS TRANSACTION,I HAD MADE UP MY
MIND TO ASSIST TO THE LAST OF MY KNOWLEDGE,SO AS TO
MAKE THIS WORK AS FAST AS POSSIBLE TO MAKE IT EASIER
FOR ME TO GO BACK TO MY NORMAL DAILY HEARING IN
COURT.IT SEEMS YOU ACTUALLY DO NOT WANT TO ASSIST YOUR
FRIEND IN TRANSFERING THIS MONEY AS EARLIER DECIDED.
ONE THING I WANT YOU TO KNOW IS THAT,SINCE THIS IS
DIRECT AND STRAIGHT FORWARD,THERE IS NO WAY IN THIS
WORLD I CAN GET THIS DOCUMENTS TO YOU WITHOUT REACHING
THE 60/70% PAYMENT WHICH HAD BEEN STIPULATED BY THE
HIGH COURT FOR SUCH CASES.
PLEASE THINK ABOUT THIS AND GET BCAK TO ME,SO I KNOW
WHAT TO TELL YOUR FRIEND MR LEWIS.
MOST OBLIGED,
BARRISTER:.ESQ.(SAN).
PRINCIPAL PARTNER: & ASSOCIATES.

Subject: are you ok?
Dear ,
I'm concerned that you haven't responded to my last
mail. I hope you're well. I am in contact with your
attorney Mr. . He's very stubborn. Now instead of
$2,000.00, he say I need to send $3,250.00. I asked
him to send me copies of the documents he's
perfecting, he say he can't send any proof of this
transaction to me before I send money. I got
suspicious and I told him I just don't send money
around the world without seeing what I am getting. I
think we can come to an agreement though, I'm not an
unreasonable man.
Besides, I forgot that you wrote me that YOU actually
possess the death certificate. Please reply with a
scan of that document.
I agreed to take part in this transaction because you
made a very persuasive proposal. I need to VERIFY the
reality of this deal. I hope you understand.

Mr.
I read your mail and, frankly sir, I was a bit
puzzled. For starters, I understand you're a lawyer,
nevertheless I was not impressed with the pompous tone
you utilized throughout. Just a few points.
1. It is "not in the ethics" of your job as a
professional lawyer to pay fees for your clients? Very
interesting. Mr. has assured me that you know
ALL of the details regarding this deal. Do you want me
to remind you what we are doing? ETHICS?? You must
think I'm a fool when you say you have a code of
ethics. Just be honest and say you want me to put up
some good faith money on my part. I'd respect you a
heck of a lot more.
2. OK, I understand that you aren't in possession of
the documents. Forget about sending me the scans at
this time. Besides, my accountant says he doesn't need
them. But what he DOES need is an itemized invoice on
your official letterhead detailing the charges due.
This must be provided before any money is sent.
3. You "will have to place a call" to Mr. ? What
is that supposed to mean? TELL ME. Was that some sort
of threat? I'M TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW... I DON'T TAKE
KINDLY TO THREATS, NOR DO I TRANSACT BUSINESS WITH
COWARDS WHO ISSUE THREATS FROM A COMPUTER HALFWAY
ACROSS THE WORLD. If in fact that wasn't a threat,
please disregard what I wrote above, and endeavor to
choose your words more carefully when corresponding
with me.
4. By all means, please DO call Mr. . I hope you
are able to reach him, as I have tried several times
by telephone without luck. Also, I sent him mail and
he has not responded. I hope he's OK.
5. I am beginning to have doubts about this deal. I
NEED to hear from Mr. AND I NEED a copy of your
itemized invoice before we go any further.
Cordially

Dear Baiter,
PLease pardon the delay in replying you,it was due to the fact that i travelled on official duties.Barrister called me yesterday trying to discourage me about tendering your name as the next of kin to Mr estate.I told him point blank that i have very strong trust in you and as such will go ahead to put in your name as the next of kin.Try to see him as the arttorney here,as his position in the judiciary here is high and well respected as a senior advocate of Nigeria. After much explanation he understood that we are very close friends and that you misunderstood him in the first place. Please do not disagree with him on issues,if only for the succes of this very transaction as he is accredited and well respected.Try your best to let him see reasons with you more diplomatically.
The fee he is asking i am sure is $2,000 dollars, because i had already paid the sum of $2,250 upfront for documentation and the total cost is $4,250 dollars. All you have to pay now is just $2,000 which covers the remaining balance.I am not trying to put the burden on you alone, but note that the transaction is strictly for you and me.Please do not ask the lawyer for any money as he will be involved financialy then and can equally lay claims to the funds too.Let you and i try our possible best to put resources together and finish this entire transfer so as to be sure of our gains in the end.Afterall, the lawyer was paid half the fees instead of full charges.
I will have the death certificate of Mr sent to you first thing tommorrow morning. Please as soon as you receive this certificate,do the needful by paying the full $2,000 dollars to the name i earlier gave you.I really will like us to round up this transfer before weekend.I know how you feel, but i still stand on my word that all is well as the reason for this transaction is to assume a better standard of life for my family and myself.Remember you and might be working things out together, but the whole thing depends on you and me to succeed. If we can trust and show some faith in each other, then we will reap the fruit of this labour.
I am betting my life on this transfer that as soon as we have the documents, the notification processes will resume and the money would have been wire transfered latest within 48hrs of confirmation. Why not just give me the benefit of doubt and see what comes out in the end.
I am still not happy that you have refused to call me for personal discussion between both of us.Try my number and makesure you get me on phone.234 803562xxxx.
Expect the certificate by tommorrow.
sincerely,
Mr .
