Lad script hijack?

A new one on me, maybe the old salts know how this all fits together?

Original script is a standard bank bit:

This is Mr Robert Justin From JPMorgan Chase Bank New York,I want to
let you know that your fund of $9.8million was brought to our bank here in New York by one Delivery Agent from Benin Republic,According to the Delivery Agent he said that he cannot be able to complete the delivery of your cash consignment box of $9.8million to your address due to one reason or the other that is why he brought your fund here to be transferred into your bank account by JPMorgan Chase Bank New York USA

Eminently baitable of course.

Followed by the address and bank accounts for the priest and the church. Given the message I doubt it has anything to do with the real church but a 419 scam shifted immediately to a beggar? I don't get it.

Any clues?

Odd situation. I know we don't bait beggars, but it certainly didn't start out that way. Personally I think I would try a few vague responses and see what direction he goes.

Yeah, I fired back a "what are you talking about, isn't there money for me", we'll see where it leads.

The incompetence of lads knows no bounds. Like others have written, it sounds like he sent the wrong script on his follow up. Maybe a non-committal response will elicit exactly what scam the lad is interested in pursuing.

He sent back the exact same church script so I've asked what happened with the bank and the money and I'd make a massive donation to the church once I get it.

We'll see.

It turns out that the original scammer had put all the email recipients in the CC line by mistake, including my friend the priest, and the beggar bombed them all looking for cash.

Pretty funny.
