We've just had a 5.6, which is a record for my state, and it makes for one hell of a wake up call.

Better than my alarm really, 'cause I wasn't groggy one bit ... hit the floor running so to speak. Very Happy

7.1 here in the Shaky Isles on Friday, followed by 6.2, 5.1. 6.1 and minor stuff around 3- 4

It's been over a year since we've had a shaker here in earthquake country and that makes me nervous.... Lots of energy building up.

7.1 is major. The 1989 Loma Prieta quake in CA was 6.9 and it was a serious killer.

We get a few here all the time, mostly insignificant around 3 - 4 and under

Stats for the last year, 20,442 so far in the last 12 months, nearly 1,000 in the last week.

The map on the right side will show the main fault lines here. I'm in the South Island, off to the west on a minor fault line. Haven't had any real house shakers for a while though. Mostly the jelly wobbling feeling.

We had a 4.2 last year in May, that was enough for me. Feeling the floor vibrate and shake under my feet while I was sitting at my desk at work was weird and unsettling. Not interested in a repeat.

Around here we usually get flooding and the occasional tornado

God hates Oklahoma. The only thing they are safe from is Hurricanes. Everything else they get in droves
