For all the long time people, Paranoid has had a brainstem embolism, and while he is on life support at the moment, it is only until his son can get home, then it will be switched off.

He has been hemophillac since childhood, and had managed to outlive all predictions. He suffered a rather bad motor accident a few years back and ended in a wheelchair, and was successfully regaining use of his legs till yesterday.

'Noid was one of the nicest people I have ever met, he worked as Student Counselor and Psychologist at a University in California, with a terrific rapport amongst the students.

I will post up more info as I get it, this has only just happened.

...... and his students here on eater. I can say that as one of his problem children students turned around 180 degrees with a vengeance. The world is a lesser place, that man was pure logic in a softest form imaginable. He was the only one to turn me around early days with his gentle guidance.

His wisdom and sense of humor had me hooked from the moment he became my mentor. He never baited for me, but was always there to point me in the right direction.

I was blessed to have him.

Rest well, Noid -- it's been a long, hard haul for you.

Oh, what horrible, tragic news! My heart hurts for his family, friends and those of you whom he was close to here at Eater. Sending my very deepest condolences and great, big ((( HUGzzz ))) to all of you.

Irish -- thanks for taking on the burden of notifying us. Is there a fund that we can donate to in order to send flowers -- or in support of the family's charitable choice if they prefer?

I am heartbroken. I met up with Paranoid and his wife recently and he was a classic gentleman, and one of the most selfless, caring and kind people I've met in a long time. We realized we were both working on the same community-oriented project and had no idea the other was involved. I will carry on in his honor.

This week, I'll contact his wife and let her know the Eater community is posting their heartfelt remembrances of him. She was very supportive of his work on Eater, and enjoyed our discussions about current and past baits - she knows a lot of your names, too Smile

What a loss for Eater, and for the community he lived in.

Ouch. I didn't know Paranoid all that well (for whatever reason, our paths didn't seem to cross that much) but back when I was still a complete noob, I remember getting some great guidance from him on several different postings I made.

His students at the U of C were most fortunate...

Thank you for posting irish. Terribly sad news about an all around good guy. I didn't know him personally but his positive attitude and helpful manner was always a great joy to see here on eater.
