Why does this lad want my characters email and password?

My loan sent me this email;

the password so that i can send it to him for verification to know if
there is any scam in your mail okay.. so once the loan have been
transferred to you there will be know scam that will want to take
your loan away, onlike mr mutu okay and he said that once the
following details have be provided you will receive your loan and
be happy okay... so i want you to know that as a friend i want you to
be happy with your loan and not being worried of anything okay and
once the bank manager confirm in your mail that there is know scam or
any fraud i we be the one to email you that your loan have been
transferred okay so you send me.....

SEND ME THIS DETAILS

Email username:
Email password:

so i we be waiting for your reply with the following details sent to
me so that i can forward it to the bank for the confirmation of your
loan okay.

I await your swift responds soon.... so that you loan transaction can
take place asap

I got this very badly worded email wanting pretty much the same details. Just think how many people could lose serious info if they provide username and password ! Maybe they they both want the same outcome just different ways of going about it.

Could be a new thing they've got, as I'm sure the lads have trends. I'm just gonna make a fake disposable ccount with a similar email address and let him have at it.

I'm sure after he has these details that there will he another fee to pay. If anyone wants to bait this muppet PM me and I'll give you his email address I milked three piggies out of him to he is compliant if pushed.

Well, I had a couple of loan lads demand my log-in after they had been chopped a couple of times at MG/WU places. They were convinced that my email had been hacked and someone was getting the payment details to "steal" their money transfers.

Maybe these lads that are asking for the log-ins up front are victims of many many dolla chops?

There's lots of reasons:
- A new account to scam from
- A list of new email addys to scam
- An opportunity to send out the infamous "I'm stuck and need some money" email to your friends and family
- The lad could just log in, change your password, and make you pay him to regain access to your account

Lads are always looking for further ways to bomb their format and new contacts. Having access to your email account allows them just that. The "Stranded Traveler Scam" is a perfect example of what can happen.

I did use a second scammer character to try and push him over the edge by accusing him of all sorts and making him I was trying to take over the loan from him. He names him specifcally in the email as well. I think this could alao be a stalling tactic or an attempt to make me abandon the loan minus the 'unrefundable' fee.

If you want to have some fun, ask the lad why he needs your password. That will put him totally off-script, so you're sure to get a funny email. (One of mine told me that was how he could be sure I was paying off my loan. Confused

)

Most people use the same password for multiple things. He may hope that by getting your password to your email that he will be able to get into your bank account or other accounts he could empty.

Either way, I wouldn't encourage it by playing along. I would slap the bejeezus out of him, to dissuade him from asking anyone who might be gullible enough to comply.

I'm inclined to consider that the advice of 'usernametaken' is sensible. If you give him a fake password to your email he's only going to hit the hell out of it and make your mail service ask you to confirm your account, which isn't drastic but it is a pain.

I have a liking for outrageous lies and one you could try is to mention that you use the account for pron and would be embarrassed to let him have access to it. The benefit of this is that it makes the Lad feel that he has a hold over you, and he could even try blackmail if you mention that you don't want your wife to know about it.

It gives the Lad options and could take the bait into amusing areas.
