In honor of my beloved Detroit Tigers, and in support of their upcoming American League Pennant and World Series Championship, I am hereby changing my avatar from the honourable Nigel Tuffnel of "Spinal Tap" (one of England's loudest bands) to the Old English Gothic D.

At least we're ahead of the CWS! I spit in the Sox general direction daily, hopefully some makes it to Boston. The CWS being 19.5 out makes me tingly all over. Good luck over there in mitten land.

I was amazed they scored so many runs yesterday with Verlander on the mound. Usually they take the day off from hitting when he's pitching.
Either way, Go Tigers!!! I often put the game on while doing my Baiter work in the afternoons & evenings. |

Me too! There are 162 games in the regular season and each game lasts approximately 3 hours, so that means potentially 486 hours available for Ladpain during baseball season. 
There are also the Tigers Live pre-game and post-game shows available too.
I will probably set aside the Ladwork during the playoffs and Wold Series though. |

They do allow one team from Canada to take part but I think they have some
rule or something that they're not allowed to win it. |

Oh, man. I did not intend for this thread to attract a bunch of commenteers joking about the game of baseball.
Instead, I started this thread to give other Eater members the opportunity to join me in giving due honor and proper homage to that greatest of baseball teams (at least this year), the Detroit Tigers. I thought I was being pretty damn considerate in doing so, but let me address the comments.
Concerning the "World Series", yes the men who coined the name in 1903 were perhaps a bit parochial (this was even long before the U.S. entered the First World War), but they were correct in that the best baseball in the world at the time was being played in the U.S. major leagues. Baseball in Central America and the Caribbean (introduced during U.S. military interventions) had not taken root yet.
BTW, here are other countries that have players in Major League Baseball this season:
Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Cuba, Curaçao, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela.
Actually, Canadian teams are allowed to win (sorry PF). The Toronto Blue Jays won two World Series (early 1990's). They have won more championships in the last forty years than the Toronto Maple Leafs have won Stanley Cups.
@ FS - nice video. The Tigers haven't had many walk-off wins this year due to their weak bullpen, but the bullpen is much stronger now.
The Detroit Tigers have a great starting rotation, the best hitter in the game, a sold group of supporting players, an excellent manager, and one of the craftiest General Managers in baseball.
