So I have been reading and besides doubled over ROFL, I am amazed at how naive these lads are! For criminals, I wouldn't expect this. So why is this? You will say its because they smell money but there are lots of money motivated in the world but few are so naive.

What keeps them from getting so pissed, they send a hellish virus? I use Norton but even with virus definitions continually updated, one killed my last computer which is why it became an ex computer.

What keeps them from discovering this place?

Welcome and thanks for reading.

Many lads know about Eater. But many don't. In the end, aside from a few exceptions, they don't bother with us because honestly, to do so would only waste their time that could be spent chasing $$. It's not like they are going to win an argument with us. There have been attacks on Eater before (and no doubt in the future), but again, those take time/money/energy and ultimately, aren't likely to be successful.

These types of scammers play confidence games. As such, they have to invest in disbelief, which may be why they are more likely to join in the fun. But don't forget, Eater only reveals the tip of the iceberg. For every lad we get to safari, ink a tattoo, or put a fish into his mouth, there are hundreds if not thousands who don't play along.

In any event, play along as you best see fit. And always feel free to ask for help.

Hi Scambuster!

Scamming is something that any unscrupulous person who has access to a computer can do - so all types of criminally-minded people can try it: from the naïve to the so clever-and-sophisticated that it takes a lot of research to be able to uncover that it is indeed a scam. Many scammers, however, are neither end of the spectrum, but their lack of knowledge of the life and culture of other countries leads them to believe things that you or I know are untrue, or even ridiculous. They may be experts regarding their own country and culture, but make mistakes regarding somewhere else in the world, and the way people run their lives and organisations there.

As baiters, we try to always blame the lad himself for our inability to send the money. It was his own mistakes and inabilities that caused the endless delays. Hopefully, the lads always believe this, and though they sometimes get mad, they still think that we were potential victims .... just ones that somehow they failed to extract money from. Oftentimes, therefore, they return (with a different name and scam format) to try again. It would be no advantage for them to render our computers out of service. They want us to be able to receive their emails, write to them, and - hopefully - send them money.

I've had a lad discover Eater, and read some threads, but he didn't understand anything at all. He simply told one of my characters that she had to be careful about websites, because there were some strange ones about (ie Eater) which were full of hackers trying to hack her (and his) email account. I'm sure that he would not understand baiting. He, and others, would think: why would anyone waste their valuable internet subscription doing something of no personal benefit?

And, besides, if we've done a good job in baiting, then we have become so believable to the lads, that they would never ever believe that we were fake, even if they found the whole bait here. It would be like discovering that your best friend was doing a Truman Show in your life. Unbelievable.

When we are not quite so sure that a lad would be so disbelieving, we post about our baits in Scambaiting Help, Hints and Tips forum, which doesn't show up in Google searches; or we change the participants' names when we post about them: eg my character Cliff Fall is called Clive Fry, and my lad Barrister Brown is called Lawyer Green - and then the lad is very unlikely to ever find my character or himself here.

It is your first time to use western union so therefore none can blame you. It is always like this at the first experience. - Yes lad, and at the second, and the third... you'll see.

I don't want to guess the number - But, lad, isn't that the best fun to be had with MoneyGram reference numbers?

I have had a couple of baits rumbled by a lad or Vlad discovering this site and my posts. No big deal, there are many more and if they can find me, a real victim can too. I will take that risk every time!
