I have recently been scammed by a man who I believed was a friend. He is a business man in Toronto. He is operating something similar to a Ponzi scheme. He finds his victims on Plenty of Fish and dates them. He then earns their trust and then calls and tells them he is in some financial trouble and needs help. With some victims he is taking money to invest, some are for mortgages, some are charitable donations to a scheme and yes I loaned him money on the premise it would be returned over a year ago and nothing but excuses have been given about why he cannot pay these monies back.
I have since found out he has scammed 10/15 other victims... and a lot of money is involved.... one lady is about to lose her home... another has lost all of her retirement money... others have lost all their investments.. some have maxed out their credit cards. This guy thinks he is above the law, and to tell you the truth, looking at the Canadian laws, it seems he can get away with this....
Any help or guidance would be welcomed ... |

Welcome to the board first! I am very sorry that you found us under this circumstance. Our sister site http://www.scamwarners.com/ is very good at helping those who have been or are possibly about to become a victim. I would really suggest that you seek their wisdom. |

Welcome! I am sorry that this has happened to you and others so I encourage you to contact Law Enforcement with as much evidence as you are able to provide.
Canadian law can/will deal with such people assuming there is a case that can be proven. This 'Businessman' is not above the law.
