I just joined a dating site , when a man mailed me with a story we talked and he said to leave the site and use email / Facebook . after a few days he asked me for money .when i said no he deleted facebook and he is now no longer anywhere on the internet under the name he gave . . he has my e mail , what can i do ?

You probably don't need to do anything as this Scammer will just go away. He is looking for money and since you aren't in the giving mood any contact will cease. He may try to woo you for a while but will move on to easier marks.

Simply ignore any messages from him.

You should also get in the habit of not giving out an email address you use for personal business, friends, or family, and may be connected to facebook account that has too much personal information about you.

For initial contacts with new people from the 'net, use an alternate email address.....one that doesn't directly connect to existing info about you on the 'net, or a real facebook account.

This should be an email account you are prepared to abandon when you run into a scammer or jerk.

It takes maybe 30 seconds to set up a new email account? Protect yourself.
You don't have to lie to people...but you don't have to expose yourself totally, either.
