That is not always the case, victims could be lonely. or have a need to beleive the scammers shit, it does not mean that they are dumb.

Otherwise you did a great job in your chat with him... Laughing

Great job wasting a ton of that idiot's time. I even learned something new:

Quote:
(09:12:33 AM) ME: So, what does it mean?
(09:13:03 AM) mrdave williams: about the transfer
(09:13:24 AM) ME: Yes, but tell me what that phrase means?
(09:13:38 AM) mrdave williams: which phrase?
(09:23:31 AM) ME: Oh the "fuck out" one
(09:24:21 AM) mrdave williams: is just another way of saying well done

Who knew that was a compliment in the UK? Very Happy

Yeah, I have to admit this raised my ire a bit as well. My mother was recently scammed out of $9,000. She's not dumb. She was vulnerable because she is, apparently, showing some early signs of age-related dementia. That is not "dumb".

There are also victims who are simply unsophisticated and ignorant of the clever ways in which criminals can take your money. And there are desperate people who fall for job scams because they can't feed their children, and they think they found a way to bring in some much-needed income to get food on the table. And there are many other reasons people fall for scammers that have nothing to do with being dumb.

And yes, there are some victims who are just plain dumb. Wink

Anyway, I just wanted to point out it's best to avoid feeling derision towards victims. We're all about trying to protect the vulnerable from becoming victims.

Meanwhile, keep up the good work! Wasting their time with you means they have less time to scam real vics.

its sort of ironic because the scammers are almost as gullible as the scammed. i like to offer them a free phone if they participate in a 200 questionaire about life in africa. it works about 50% of the time and wastes alot of the scammers precious cafe minutes

Welcome to Eater, leonard.zepowitz2!

As Cachuma said, please be careful with negative characterizations of victims. It's something we're not very tolerant of.

I understand what your point is, but perhaps you meant naive?

I also considered sending them random word in a foreign language to see if they'd try translating.

I think they'll just use an online translator. Scammers are familiar with these. One time I sent out emails that were gibberish from my toddler hitting the keyboard. One scammer kept replying in different languages. Laughing
