Hi my name is Charles. I recently found out that my aged mother has been communicating with a man named Morris sadd who says he is the chief accountant of a charitable org. that dishes out Allen larges money. My mother and this man have been communicating through email since October. In January my mother gave this man her phone number and has since started calling her.

When I found out I called him and asked him to stop calling. He then offered to send proof of who he was and sent me a photocopy of his passport. Sadly my mother has built some kind of friendship with this man and he even asked how she was and kept saying that they trust each other. His accent spudded foreign. He kept tells g me about an activation fee and said he was even willing to pay for half of it.

What do I do next? I have to plead stupidity here as I've never dealt with a situation like this before. Thank you for reading and replying.

Welcome to Eater! Allen and Violet Large are real people who some years ago won the lottery and gave away money. They are finished with giving away the money. Their names are used by scammers who pretend to give away money while demanding fees.

Passports sent by scammers are usually easy to debunk. See http://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=290 for examples.

The lad's name is not "Morris Sadd"; that's the name of the lad's character, whom he made up. Baiters likewise make up characters and use them to fight lads.

Thank you very much. I have posted on scam Warner as well. I'm so shocked as to how much effort this person has put into this. Is this common? Will he leave us alone if we ignore him or will my mother have to get a new phone number?

You may have to get a new number, if he persists the first thing you have to do is to ignore any emails from him, also be aware of any recovery scams, this is where your lad will send an email from a different email address offering to get your money back (for a fee)

Has your mum realised she has been scammed ?

Thankfully my mother hasn't sent anything. Like I said before she believes this man is being honest. It should be easy to show her it's a scam now with the help I got from scam Warners

^^^^^ This makes things much easier. Show her this site and scamwarners and she'll hopefully stop comunicating with him before she gets too invested.
