After such a sad event you can only sit and wait for the scammers to get in on the act.

Above is a story about one which might have been in good intent, but there will be others without a doubt.

Could I ask that the great and the good keep an eye open for any scams based on the incident to be posted here so they get a lot of attention?

I've been waiting for the first scam emails trying to cash in on an event so unspeakable I can't even think about it.

Sadly, the linked article doesn't surprise me. There is no act so low or despicable that you won't find a whole bunch of people ready and willing to do it.

It's been less than a week and some of the victims have yet to be laid to rest, but these slimeballs seem to get going before the crime scene tape is all up. Here is a report I ran across yesterday of scammers using Facebook.

The world hasn't ended but it's gotten a little crazy. Most of the local schools are closed today. A day before they were supposed to. Why? Because of threats of violence during the week. I found out this morning that a former Employee of one of our East Coast plants had a daughter that was one of the victims.
I saw a report on the local news recently warning people to check out who they donate money to because of the scammers trying to cash in on the tragedy of others.

Sigh, Off to bug more lads.
