^^An easy way to find a Lad is over at the Scamwarners. You can pick the type of lad and they are active.

Welcome Markwing,

I actually moved your request at scamwarners out of sight. We don't make those requests over there, as it is too confusing for victims.

Many of the scammers listed there are still operating under the same name and email addresses posted. A simple line, asking if they are still interested, is often all you need to pick one of the posted scammers up.

But it is also incredibly easy to start up a source for yourself
-Go to any major dating site.
-Open a new account under your baiting character's name. Be sure to keep all details unconnected to you.
-if you are targeting scammers playing males:
--your character should be 45 - 65 years old.
--recently divorced or widowed
--use no photos at all, or if the site requires you use photos, pick an unattractive photo. Stay away from ITP's (i.e., don't copy some person's facebook photos, etc.) I personally like to use a) a celebrity deliberately made to look bad (for example, Kathy Bates in some of her roles like misery, or some tabloid celeb shots); (b) the "before" picture for a sleazy miracle weight loss ads. If you feel like making the effort, you can scan a pic in at a slightly lower quality.

If you are looking for a scammer posing as a female:
--same age/status
--make your character unrealistic in his expectations--if you want, you can even make him a totally unrealistic pig. For example, your character is an overweight 50 year old man with no social life and not exactly a catch, but he clearly thinks he is one. He is looking for a "beautiful American/European woman, 25-35, with no children" or even "hot chick, under 35, with no kids" who is "not overweight," "takes care of her body"
-same for photos as female profile.

Add a couple of traits that are likely to turn any real person off--maybe a bizarre hobby, clearly messed up family situation, maybe your male character still lives in his parents' basement. Sometimes I specify in my profile that I am not looking for a long-distance relationship. That might scare off a couple of scammers, but most will just ignore it anyway and tell you that distance doesn't matter. A few will just change their location to match yours (but of course they are conveniently away from home or will be about to travel.)

Ultimately, you have 2 primary goals: make your character appealing to the scammer (which doesn't take much as they will try to scam anyone, but they are a bit more likely to target the key age range, etc.), and make it unappealing to real people. With a good profile, you will have a dozen new scammers approach within a day. Just don't bait anyone unless you're sure it is a scammer.

I would also recommend that you remove or mask your email address in your post here-this is a searchable forum. Some scammers will google victim addresses, and if you hook a romance scammer, you don't need to announce that you are a baiter.
