This little character
has been making many visits to my garden lately to stock up on the monkey nuts I put out. He's been burying (squirreling?) them in various spots in mine and neighbours back lawns.
He's also been driving my cat nuts - scampering around the garden while the cat is sat watching at the kitchen window making angry hissing noises.
She's made two attempts so far to stalk him, only to miss him and then sit rather frustratingly - giving him a feline glare full of daggers - while he runs up the wall of my house and to freedom.
I'm rather enjoying watching him - makes a change from bloody pigeons |

My indoor/outdoor cats are able to be outside and they sit at the base of the oak trees "just waiting". Of course the squirrels will jump onto my house roof or onto another limb of another tree and scamper away, with the cats following to the next tree......this prevents the said squirrels from gathering the acorns for a few hours.
I have one cat that can mimic the sound of a squirrel. It is funny.
Based on the amount of nuts that are falling we are said to be in for a "rough" winter (which down south isn't like up North). |

It takes a very good cat to actually catch a squirrel. The squirrel that does get caught is probably sick, injured or just too stupid to be in the gene pool.
@Morgain I have a cat that mimics birds. He sits beneath the feeders in winter and chirps away trying to entice his 'Friends' in. It doesn't work out all that well for him but it is entertaining to watch/listen to. |
