Has anyone here already dealt with or about to deal with Hurricane Sandy?

Here in Syracuse, we are under a high-wind warning from Monday afternoon until Tuesday night. Steady winds of 40 mph with gusts 50-70 mph.

They're talking possible power outages. So far as the rain, they're only predicting 3 inches of rain or so, but the 10+ inch area is only a 100 hundred miles east of us. That's very close!!!

I stocked up on beer and cigarettes. Oh, I bought a flashlight just in case. But mainly worried about the smokes and beer Smile

You got your priorities in order, you are set! We are only getting a bit of a cold front right now. Not quite freezing but enough to turn me into a big old sissy hiding under a blanket!

Be safe, folks - everything I've heard about Sandy indicates it is going to be very, very nasty.

Yeah--the local grocery stores are selling out of bread, milk, and the basics.

My apartment is sub-basement (i.e., partially below sidewalk level), and on a hill. So I'm not too concerned about flooding or my windows being blown out. Just have to worry about the house above me Wink

Let's just all hope it turns out to be a dud.

Right now it looks like I am almost directly in the path of the damn thing.The predicted track keeps shifting,but it is going to be close enough to be a mess no matter what.I'm on decently high ground with good drainage,so mostly worried about an extended power failure.Lot of low lying easily flooded areas nearby though.Gonna be interesting. Sad

30-40mph here in my part of Maine, rain. Basically it will be acting a Nor'Easter here.

Up here people are cautious, but pessimistic that it will be much of anything here. No rushes to the store, plenty of supplies. Had a few people filling their cannisters with diesel for their generators, just to be safe.

Brunt of the weather will be hitting tomorrow night. If I am wrong, probably won't hear from me for a few days or so. I'm not worried though. Good luck though to everyone south and west of me!!

Much rain on the coast here. Now pounding the Outer Banks with flooding and wash outs.

Inland appx 3hrs east. Few gust of wind and some showers.

'We've been downgraded--looks like the worst of it for Syracuse will be from Monday 6:00 p.m. to Tuesday 6 or 7:00 a.m. Twelve hour period.

But then again--it depends upon where Sandy tracks.

I am not, but A. and R. are. They had to leave the Chesapeake and go far to the south. I am out of town and had a busy day today; I'm returning tomorrow. I haven't had time to bait these past few days, but did report some sites. The lad I'm baiting has not heard from A. for several days and is wondering why she sent only part of the money (it was written as a sum of two numbers and she misread) and when it's going to arrive (she'll explain that money transfers, like all other business in the area, was delayed by the hurricane).

I left Manhattan to come back home Friday evening and people were pretty worried looks like there was just cause for that. Pretty serious to shut down the city. Been on the phone this morning with a few clients in the area sounds pretty bad.

surprised to see people hanging around in Times Square.

I am square in the expected pathway, but fortunately not on the NJ/DE/MD shoreline. The swell is killing the beaches and boardwalks -- will likely be the biggest source of damage. I am well inland but still getting loads of rain and wind.

Mad rush around here for generators and batteries. Power is on for now, but it only takes one tree...

Syracuse didn't get too much. Winds about 30mph most of the night and a few high gusts. But hardly any rain, and no power outages anywhere.

Will still be windy today, but we didn't get hit as bad as expected.

From the news reports this morning, New Jersey and New York City are in really bad shape.

Checking in to see if everyone in the path of that wet bitch are OK. I'm safe and dry in Texas, but I have friends and family in danger. Mostly inland, but 3 are in Old Orchard Beach, ME.

South of Boston significant tidal surge.

North of Boston much about nothing. State canceled all schools and government workers...........

Seem every storm now is "the worst" even when 600 miles away from landfall.
