All right! I'm just about to get started on my first bait! The guy calls himself "Professor Martin Adams". Let's see if I can waste some of his time hm? Wish me luck!

Oh, and a quick question...is it generally better to go one scam bait at a time, or can we bait multiple scammers at once? What would you recommend?

If you're starting out, do one at a time. I have just one bait going; it's been running since January and looks likely to turn into a sandtimer. I've had as many as six, but I had to thin them out, so I arranged for the son of two of my characters to be stung by a jellyfish.

Do what you feel comfortable with. Depending upon work, real life and the like; the possibilities are endless.

Personally having only one bait going at a time just isn't all that satisfying (for me). I have, however, had so many going in the past that I simply got overwhelmed. As someone who is somewhat disorganized and carefree, I have been known to screw up some fine opportunities. Yesterday, in fact, I was chatting with a couple long standing Lads (at the same time) and kinda screwed up since I was also 'Working' at the same time. I was able to recover but I actually signed off using my real name. Luckily when questioned, I was able to tell the Lad that it was a Scottish expression....

I have several Baiter accounts and pick whatever strikes my fancy on a given day. If something such as a Hitlad comes my way then yeah I'm going to add it into my 'routine' but that's just me.

All in all this isn't a job but a hobby, so have fun and do what you do best.

You can practice on your current lad. See what works and what doesn't, then you can go to the "Surplus" forum here and pick a few fresh lads to bait.

The surplus boards are always a good place to start if you haven't set up a catcher account yet. When I first started out I realized from early that my characters who sounded like ordinary, normal people were much sought after.

Another thing you can do when reply to lads when you first start baiting is to think about your character and how he/she was a RL person might respond to an email from a lad. Don't think as a "baiter" yet.

Also just one email/one question (comment) per day and don't work on weekends. In other words, a RL person would not be sitting at their computer all day (like some of us baiters do) so you want to make it "real" There may be a need later on when you have a lad hooked that you can send more than one email per day to the lad, but not recommended starting out.

Starting out I would recommend having one lad, while you are reading the stickies, Eater U and dialoging with your mentor.
