Eventually the shifting sands will pull it back under the beach, where it will slumber until another storm is powerful enough to bring it back to the surface |
If it is of historical interest why wouldn't they recover it? |

^ It might be a great dive attraction which is why there may be no salvage efforts. Shipwrecks tend to be a fun dive just to get down there and check it out. If the shipwreck has any historical value that can add to the excitement to.
That is awesome though. |

Possibly it was judged too unstable to move? or just not important enough to warrant the cost and risk? Simple economics come into it a lot.
It looks like it was almost completely buried until now, there is a sharp cut-off where the timbers stuck out of the sea floor. |

I've been reading up on this. Not really a mystery. The wreck has been there for years, and is sometimes uncovered by a large storm. It is supposed to be the wreck of a schooner that ran aground in 1933 and burned.Interesting, but no real historic significance. |

The best preserved shipwrecks are ones in ice cold water. I have seen some re-markedly well preserved shipwrecks in the ice cold waters of the Georgian Bay in Canada. |

Many artifacts though interesting have absolutely no real historical significance. This wreck can be studied quickly for any merit then left to the elements if deemed unimportant. Personally I find such an attitude disheartening to say the least.
In my neck of the woods there are many (somewhat) historical wrecks that are a haven for divers. The officials have also been known to scuttle the odd ship in order to provide such. Not a bad thing for the diving enthusiast. |

I dont think a hurricane could wash that wreck anywhere without destroying it, more like it stripped the sand away and exposed it. Gradually it will get buried again.
The Goodwin sands in the English Channel has hundreds of wrecks, of ships, U-boats and WW2 aircraft which appear and disappear from time to time as the sands shift.

I know the area where this shipwreck washed up. It would have had to wash up rather than have been buried there. If it would have been uncovered during on one of the barrier islands I would tend to agree that it was just uncovered. |
