Welcome to the Downsizer Club, Mr. Fargo. Just a few weeks ago we bought, at an estate auction, a 1995 Toyota Corolla that only had 40,000 miles on it. Paid less than $5,000 for it and put another $1,500 into it to put it in top mechanical condition. Then we sold our Ford Explorer (which had almost 130,000 miles on it) for $5,000. So, for $1,500 we get a car in nearly perfect condition that gets twice as good gas mileage, costs much less to insure, and has 90,000 fewer miles on it. What's not to like! Well... the Explorer was big and comfortable. Can't have everything, I guess Sad

Talk about gasoline, we have one in garage that gets 7 mpg, goes real fast, radio plays real loud and it sits often. Laughing

I want to say congratulations, but I must confess, that I am worried about your safety in the coming Zombie Apocalypse.

See you have given up 4 wheel drive which is useful in either getting away or running over Zombies. Now you have a vehicle with excellent glass area and I have always seen that Zombies love vehicles with lots of glass area.

The Zombies always hack through glass like it is butta'. Also, I am certain the 135 hp in the gas sipper is a lot less than the green monster, so dragging Zombies behind the vehicle will me less effective.

Never the less, enjoy the new car smell, while you can... Shocked

It's a 2005 SE ZX4. Has the 2.0 liter engine (was hoping it was the 2.3) Also it's an automatic, my only gripe. Small cars are fun to drive with a standard shift.

I am hoping around tax time i can get a 97-99 Explorer in decent condition. I know my way around Explorers inside and out, need to learn about the Focus a bit more. But we made the right decision.
