It wouldn't surprise me - Rooney sent off, late winner for Ukraine, taxi for England.

We should be good enough to get the point needed, but i hope Hodgson does not sit back and defend.
England should go for the win and with a little favour from Sweden (a draw would do), can win the
group and avoid Spain in the quarter finals.

. I admit to have been hoping for a Swedish win (because I don't like the French team), but didn't expect them to actually get it.

England 1-0 Ukraine. Ukraine got screwed out of a goal by the ref (but an Ukranian was offside earlier in the same play).

Italy in the next round then. Nice to finally play a team who are even worse at penalties than us, got a feeling it might come down to that. A 1-1 yawn-fest.

Thur. - Czech Rep vs Portugal
Fri. - Germany vs Greece
Sat. - Spain vs France
Sun. - England vs Italy

Just got to try and figure out what to do tommorow as there is no game to watch. Laughing

You and me both! I was also cheering for Ukraine, actually, since an English and a French defeat would send out France (as I read the rules, not 100% sure though).

So interesting Quarter Finals:

Germany-Greece
Czechia-Portugal
Spain-France
England-Italy

The only clear semi finalist I see among those, is Germany. The rest can easily go either way, but my best guesses would be Portugal (sorry, Mortal), Italy (sorry, Poms) and Spain (sorry... no, not really, I'm not sorry for the French team) in the semis. But as I wrote, I'm not sure about anything, except that there is no chance that Germany will miss the semis.

EDIT: Sort of ninja'd by S.A., but then again, not really. Laughing

Nice to end the tournament on a high not. Our Swedish team had potential and the only bad game was the one against Ukraine. The one against England was a good one and could have swung either way. So if felt nice to actually win a match, i feel this team was too good to end up with 0p. And beating France 2-0 was impressive. And it was a fair result too, Sweden were better than France throughout the game. And the goals they scored were class goals too, particularly the first one. Made through good passing and handling of the ball.

Even though we ended up last we can go home with our heads held up high.

I though Engerland last night kept really good shape, you could see dead straight lines of 4 4 2 that you could use in a training video.

I do worry also that Spain or Germany would play with them like a cat with a wounded mouse, then tear their heads off, but so far so good.

Can't see the Czechs winning tonight. They play neat football but there's no real threat in their attack.
Portugal to win by at least 2 goals.

Biggest mistake Greece made last night was equalising as that just seemed to annoy The Germans.

France, so far, have not played too their full potential and if Spain are not at their best I think
we might see an upset tonight.

Apparently Hodgson is as shitty as the rest of them. Sarcasm aside, England did a good tournament and shouldn't be to disappointed. After all, Italy deserved their victory and were the better team. I foresee a new blitzkrieg in the semis.

Finally I was right about something. Wasn't too hard to predict, though. Now, it looks like we will get the optimal final - Spain-Germany. I don't see how either Portugal or Italy can do anything to spoil that.

He did well with the team he had, particularly as he only had a few weeks to prepare unlike the other coaches at the Tourney who had years.

I wish Italy luck, they will need it with that defence. England carved them open a number of times and Germany are alot better than us.

I said early in this thread that i didn't think Hodgson was the right man to manage England and i have
seen nothing in this tournament to change that opinion. I am not a fan of his brand of anti-football, but having
said that, England exceeded my expectations overall as i did not think they would get out of their group.

Congrats to Italy, they were the better team on the night and really should have won the game in 90 mins.
and i thought Pirlo put on a pure footballing master class. They will need to improve their finishing if they are to
get any further.
