Hey all!

I know that many of you baiting (or lurking) in this forum have profiles set up on various sites, and you are likely being approached by many more scammers than those you are baiting.

I would like to encourage all of you to help get the word out on all those other fakes, so we can help keep them away from victims.

What I'm asking you to start doing is simple, and should not take too much time:

-Sign up over at scamwarners.

-When you are approached by a new obvious scammer, simply start a new thread in the romance scams subforum.
-Use the scammer's name and email address (if you have it) as the subject.
-Post the actual profile information (just copy-paste) if the profile itself is a clear fake (sometimes the profile alone is evidence, especially when there are stolen photos or the scammer can't get his own basic info straight).
-post the message(s) the scammer sent to you, if any.
-You can post the photos used if you like, or anything additional you would like to say, but it is not necessary. (Please remember, though, that scamwarners is not a baiting site, so we limit discussion of baiting and avoid sarcasm and comments that may not be understood by many members)

In all, it should only take a couple of minutes to make that name, initial script, and address searchable for potential victims. In addition, we have a few posters over at scamwarners who focus on following up on these scammers for more information--so if the basic info is posted, they will make it a point to get and post IP addresses and search for the scammers' other profiles, etc.

While you are of course welcome to participate further, you can perform this activity quickly and easily, without having to deal with victims and/or provide advice if you are not comfortable.

I would encourage you to post very basic profiles on those you are currently baiting, as they may have real victims in addition to your baiting characters, but of course that is entirely up to you.

I got a call from my cousin that he met this girl and needed some help, ie, money. I told I would help until he said she need money to come from...Nigeria. I think he has sent her money, she was supposed to fly in last week, but surprise she needs money for a last minute medical and police report even though she's a "US citizen".

How do I do some forensic info on what has happened so far so I can report this? Im an IT guy but new to the hunting scammers, though now very motivated.

And how do I approach the topic of you've been a victim? Thanks

You can Google the 'girls' name and email, also parts of her early mails to him to see if you can turn up anything.

Im trying to get that info, unfortunately he's convinced its true love as they have chatted for hours, when I told him to stop sending money he texted her and her reply was I was against him..which is a reply from someone who is trying to create a conflict and keep the gravy train going.

Its bad, hes sent money already for a plane ticket, and then was hitting me up for $1000 to pay for medical and police reports, but she'll pay him back from her bank in the US that has her inheritance cant use it now of course because she needs to be there to sign for it in person. I am currently having an email conversation with a clearly Nigerian thief who met me on AdultFFinder (don't judge me). We've been in contact emailing at least once a week for the last 3 weeks. I knew it was a scam from the start, and I'm happy that I found this site .

"She" has been upping the anti, slowly but surely.

I'd like to know what to do next?

I'd be happy to send all emails to someone for some advice as how to continue.

And just for times sake. I order to keep "her' interested, I'd love that advice as soon as possible. I'd even prefer it if someone with more experience just took over. I created a completely new account to communicate with this person, so I would have no problem giving that account info to an experienced person.

There is nothing wrong with AFF. I have never caught one of those in there but I can see they may abuse it.

As for advice, it is hard to call without being able to see all of it's side at least. If you are bashful it is not a big deal but we would need a good idea of where you are in the bait to suggest things.

Clearly a scam. I'd be happy to post the emails here. I started baiting after the first response. Just wondering if Nigerian scammers might be members here and posting info that they might recognize would not destroy the whole purpose of this website!

Definitely a scam and it seems you are doing very well with it. I like the hippy/name part.

If you have not already signed up for a mentor, they are a valuable resource for new baiters. They can guide you to and through all of those little break-in miles and know where most everything is in here. they can be found here http://forum.419eater.com/forum/cherrie_mentor_program.php and some of them are even free, but they are all great.

When you are unable to contact your mentor, should you sign up, you can always ask in Help, Hints & Tips. Everyone here is great about guiding you around or trying to get you a good answer to your dilemma.

Always keep in mind that if you do not let them know that you know what they are doing and play along, you really can't get it wrong. Just make it entertaining for yourself and bait safely.

I am new to the forums, and am really concerned about what may await a friend who has already shipped all his belongings to the Philippines expecting to meet a woman and her child, then possibly eventually move them here to the U.S.

He was already scammed for thousands a few years ago, and refuses to believe it could happen again.

He's on Social Security Disability, and has been assured he will have no trouble getting it once he arrives. He's already send literally everything he has to this person, and won't listen to any of his friends. He also won't give us any of her details, except that she's in the Philippines and has a daughter.

What might await him when he arrives? He's flying out in less than a week.

I think that you should try to talk to him again, this does look dodgy to me, however if he refuses to tell you anything and has been scammed before, he is going to be thinking that he is too clever to be taken again
