Hi All

I recieved an intro from a young lady (no realy!) on 4 p p l, her description was an American with British heritage living in Ghana (imediatley said Lad to me!) so I exchanged a couple of emails and then she moved to YIM, sent me a few pics and I returned the favour with a couple of my character. (Still thought it was a Lad as the pics were fairly posed VLAD esk)
So today on YIM she starts her camera and low and behold its a young lady. While the camera did stall a few times I don't think it was a looped video or anything (can you do that with YIM Cams?) as she waved and did a few moves that wern't repeated.
She goes on and on about love and trust etc (yada yada yada) but wants me to switch my cam on (left it at the office today! but any suggestions on how to send a hazy feed or something would be good).
So the crux of the mater, are they upto something I'm not aware of, hacking or the like as she doesn't seem in a rush or anything, and I don't want to be leading on a true dater.

It still says scammer.

The scammer is probably using a porn actress's photos/video. Some internet porn actresses have a lot of very long videos out there, so it's easy to create several minutes of fake webcam without looping.

Nope brunette, and its just her sat dressed normaly (blue polo type shirt) at a computer in her "room" she gave a wave at the beginning and just looked at the cam a few times no stripping or bouncing around. Didn't get the chance to ask her to give me a twirl which would have proved if it wasa vid or not.
How do you feed a vid as if it was a cam? especially in YIM

Lots of porn actresses have "normal" video out there, especially those who offer paid live cam sessions. All the scammer has to do is get the recorded version and the right software, and voila-instant webcam . Search for the term "ferk" on eater and you will find some scammer to scammer emails selling the software to generate fake webcam.

It's pretty routine actually.
-scammer uses stolen credit card to sign up for porn site.
-scammer chooses subject and downloads lots of photos and video before stolen credit card is reported. Some porn sites have even started blocking countries because it is such a problem.

The most often used brunette is raven riley-there are a ton of 'normal" photos and videos of her.

Thanks for that Dorothy will do a little background research on that.
So I don't have anything to woryy about as concerns hacking?
I was thinking of setting up a crappy webcam and sticking a bit of sellotape over the lens so all they see is a blur then blaming an office collegue for breaking it!
I'm in the UK and the character is too and I'm on mobile broadband so if they go to the extent of tracking the IP they'll just get a generic UK location.

If u want, forward her first messages and photos to me at dotti @ scamwarners.co.cc and I can tell you unequivocally whether it's a scammer. But the basic background info screams it and nothing you describe is out of the ordinary. You don't see it as often on 4 ppl because it tends to draw the more obvious scanners. Those who actually use video are more likely to be on mainstream dating sites.

But there's nothing to worry about - treat with the same caution as any other scammer.

So now that "she" is confirmed to be Josie Ann Miller (aka josiemodel.ca) you can be absolutely certain that there is no hacking or advanced technical skill required--just the right software.

Low and behold, last night picked up another one who used exactly the same script as the "LADy" mentioned above.
So like you say not much skill going on, now I just need a certain local TV presenter to do a bit to webcam and I can return the favour lol

That is who I thought it would be. He/she did the fake webcam a couple months ago.
