What I did which made him oh-so-unhappy was to "mail" my payment rather than send it by WU/MG. Moreover, I alleged "mailed " my payment directly to the address on his letterhead..... Which happens to be the address of the real financial institution which he is impersonating.
I smell a dolla' chop coming on.

Update - He wants me to re-send the money.....I could not resist the temptation. I stopped payment on the first check, and remailed a second check ......to another address that he provided in one of his e-mails. My character just hates using WU and insists on mailing checks to any available address <G>. I shall be hearing screams shortly.

Ok, attempt # 2 to mail a check to the mugu has (unfortunately) failed. Whoever received it at the bank (where the mugu claims to work) has cashed it. The mugu is not speaking to me.

My mugu gave me one last chance to do it right (i.e. send money by Western Union) and, unfortunately, I screwed it up again!!! I advised the mugu that I"called" the bank listed on the mugu's letterhead to speak to him -- but learned he does not exist. I ended up speaking with a bank employee who explained the scam to me but was so impressed by me that I am getting a job! It is a win for everybody (except for the mugu). Alas, the mugu is not responding to my good news.
