Hello all, my first post here.

I'm a week into my first bait, pretty standard "I'm in a refugee camp and I want to give you $10 million blah blah etc. "

Anyway, I've noticed something odd. The scammer and the "barrister" both have ip addresses from Nigeria but the "banker" is emailing me from Redman, WA.

Ever see this before?

First off, welcome to Eater Smile

. Remember to read the stickies and apply for a mentor. I hope you're not using RL info, because if you are, you should drop him like a stone. Also, when the bait ends, don't tell him you're a baiter.

As for the question, it happens sometimes. Some lads have accomplices in US or Europe, to make money transfers easier. It could also be a different lad using a proxy. They do actually work together.

If it is Redmond, it may be the home of Microsoft. Was it sent as Hotmail or Live by webmail?

I get lots of lad mail with ISPs originating in the US, mostly with ".edu" at the end, but not always. Lads hack/steal a lot of email addresses and it looks as though school addys are among the easiest to hack.

^^^ Yes please let me know. I have a good format that contains everything they need and generally speaking the .edu's and local educational systems, respond telling me that have corrected the problem and issued the student or faulty or staff a new email address and also express their gratitude.

Emailing the webmasters is generally ignored. I go straight to the people who are in charge of the institution's email accounts.

First bait and I think I've already gotten a signature line quote:

Whatever that means. He was slightly upset that he went to WU and the money I "sent" wasn't there.
