Yeah I have a new hobby, metal detecting. A few days ago I found this item on a abandoned property. It seems to be made of brass, but what it is and what it's for, who knows??

An abandoned property you say Bart? Interesting. Was it abandoned suddenly one night? Any stories surrounding it? Tales of mystical chanting and a loud braying noise? Laughing

Might be worth asking a local museum to take a look.

I found this here in Maine, it's where an old house used to be. Mrs. Fargo said the house was probably torn down in the 1980's (from what she can remember) On this property itself is an old dumping ground, part of the basement is exposed with an old oil heater inside, and the frame from an old truck. Likely the house was built in the late 1800's. So nothing really mysterious. Hell the family who lived there probably still have family members here in town. I had also found a tag for a Fisher Plow Model F, which was built in the 40's and 50's (Fisher Plow is a snow plow made right here in my hometown)

But this item, so far nobody seems to know what the heck it is or what is was for, other than it's unique.

If you look at it upside down, albeit it a bit painful on the neck, you can clearly see that's its an image of Chicago amidst the Industrial Revolution, the smoke merely forming the unfortunate shape of SOOI's favorite past time.
