Looks good but since it doesn't come with an OS you can never be sure of faulty memory chips.
If you decide to install Windows or Linux, you need the 64bit version. Otherwise only 3,3GB of RAM will be used instead of 8GB. |

I recently bought my son, my 10 year old son, an alienware laptop. I mention this because it will bug the crap out of Slightly. Anyway, I'm with bigdaddy on this. Buying a system with everything intact will save you from more than a few headaches. Well worth an extra few hundred pounds or ounces or whatever you UK weirdos use to count money
If I were in the UK I'd be like "can I get a kilo of ground beef". The butcher would say "That is seven pounds twenty". I'd say "no it isn't, a kilo is roughly 2.2 pounds, you dummy". The butcher would then tell me squirrel is on sale and I would leave. |

No I know what I am getting and I would prefer it with no OS, as the sods tend to stck you with a **free** years McAfee AV or similar which is a pain when it comes to uninstalling it......

I remember having the choice whether an AV is installed or not. Installing an OS isn't that big of a deal though.
Right now something made my CPU fan turn on. It's going at 3776 RPM so it's fairly loud. The CPU puts out the same amount of heat as a space heater on medium. So a bit of a PITA.
For everyone wondering why Slightly keeps picking on me

Hard to believe that was over two years ago. My only regret is choosing the sound blaster card over a physics card. |

Seems very good value. I compared with a system of a similar spec on the pcspecialist site with the one you are considering, and it beats them hands down. They came out at £327.00 inc VAT
You sound be able to run something like linux mint on that with no problems. |

If I asked our butcher for a kilo of beef he'd smack me in the mouth. Euro measures aren't readily accepted round here. We still buy beer in pints, petrol & diesel in proper gallons, & meat in pounds
Had enough trouble finding driver software for Windows 7. I'll stick to Apple & Ubuntu. |

My bad then. Actually, were I am from, buying things in kilos might end you up in jail.
About my PC's fan being loud. All I had to do was clean out the dust. There was a lot of it. The CPU fan dropped from 3776 RPM to 939 RPM and is near silent. Ty bobdemol. |

I am jealous of you people with your whizz-bang pc's. Due to budgetary circumstances and a lack of technical knowledge, my desktop is currently 12 years old and counting.
VM - that is a sexy machine at a great price, go for it. And thanks for introducing me to that site, I didn't realise pc's were available at such good value. I may be able to upgrade sooner than I thought!
(BTW, Ghost, in the UK it's mince, or minced beef, not ground beef. ) |

^^I learn something new here every day. I remember when I was told nappies are diapers. Sounded more like a wet nap to me at the time.
I hope your budgetary circumstances change for the better soon |
