It's a nice effort, but ultimately it probably won't do much good. It's really not that hard to set up an account with a fake name to avoid tripping red flags on a sex offender registry, or other similar alerts. |

Heck, sex offenders don't even always register at their local police station when they move. Where we used to live we did not know a neighbor was a sex offender because when he moved to our area, he did not register. He had been identified as a sex offender (of a 5 yr old child) in another state. The only reason we found out is that he was stopped for a traffic ticket and ran through the system
In our area when a sex offender registers his address, a flyer is sent to all the neighbors within a 5 miles radius.
Many of them will hide it however then can. |

Can I sue the bar owner for not protecting me if the person I met inside tried to sexually assault me?
It is unfortunate the lady was sexually assaulted, but there also needs to be some degree of realism. Having those safe guards aren't going to make online dating any safer. All it would do is maybe filter out a few who have been caught. Sexual assault is way under reported.
I do online dating and I've met some creeps before. I never let anyone pick me up in a car and I don't let them see where I live. I also don't like going to their house for a few dates. I've never been attacked thankfully, but there are some guys out there who have made me wary of going on a 2nd date. Most predators probably wouldn't give off that vibe so it's important to be safe. |
