Everybody has them. What are your pet peeves?

I hate it when people write emails or text messages or posts that contains what I call "text speak"

I don't mind spelling errors, but I absolute hate "text speak" especially if the text or email coming to me has that "crap" in it and I don't know WTF they are talking about.

Look at this list - I am not going to carry around a long list like this so I know what one is talking about in their text message, email, or post. When I see email, or messages like that I ignore them

Unfortunately my pet peeve is when people get excessively riled up about others' abuse of language. I feel your pain when it comes to text speak but it always seems to me that the level of vitriol associated with the way others speak or write is out of proportion. Especially because I work in a language-related field and people are constantly asking me to settle language disputes ("Tell her she shouldn't use the word 'moist' because it sounds gross", "can you explain to him why he can't write 'your going home'?" and so on and so on).

My other pet peeve is when people don't look where they're going. Yes you playing with your phone, I'm talking to you. Look up, I'm trying not to bump into you. But I shouldn't have to do all the dodging. There's huge amounts of foot traffic where I live and work, and it gets ugly really quickly.

Sitting in math class while the guy next to me is not only watching youtube on his cell phone, but having conversations with the guy on the other side of me while I'm trying to hear the lecture on derivatives.

Also, I hate squirrels that play cards. They're much more entertaining playing hop-scotch.

I forgot a couple:

People that text while driving.

People that drive drunk.

People that drive drunk and think they can text and/or talk on the cell phone.

When I am talking to a person and their cell phone rings, all of a sudden I become chopped liver. I now just walk away.

What is this obsession with people having to be in contact with everyone at every moment. I do not own a cell phone, but I have one because of work. I turn it off the minute I leave work.

Also, when people ask me if I am on Facebook, I AM NOT and never intend to be. This place is the closest I come to "social media".

/rant from an almost 50 year old.

I'm with Big Al on the chronically late thing. It drives me insane. I find it both rude and selfish. My son recently realized that if I'm not a minute or two early for everything, I feel like I'm late. My kids like to tease me with a line from Spongebob: "Oh no, I'm almost late to be early!".

Also on my list is the pet peeve already mentioned by Pastor Frank. I refer to this as "crazy cell phone people". They can't focus on anything else if they're being hailed by their cell phone, and treat it like a life line, keeping it in their hand most of the time. Confused

I agree with the chronic late thing as well another one of mine is related to language more specifically when people apparently forget that punctuation and paragraphs exists so they write these long paragraphs which are hard to follow because it is not broken up into sentences or smaller paragraphs whenever i see that kind of thing i wonder how people like that do in their English (or other language) classes in school

My pet peeve is manners, or more specifically, lack of manners.

I have to agree with a lot that's already been posted.

Our son, (computer geek) showing how us to do something on the computer, so fast, we miss it, ask to show us again, gets quite umpty.

In the past having been asked directions and given them, then being asked are you shore. Feel insulted. (where's your throat, my hands are itchy) Mad

I agree with the cell phone being more important than who you are with.

...and the "show me how" thing being so fast that you can't remember how to. Every time we get a new piece of machinery, I do a cheat-sheet and usually end up giving it to most of the other guys I work with so they can have a step by step. Also at my work-place there's a "10 Minute Rule". If you go to the meeting and ten minutes go by after the scheduled start-time. Bye-Bye. (got stuff to do)( check Baiter E-mails & stuff LOL)

People who constantly drive 10mph slower than the posted speed limit. I have places to go people.

People who tell me I should upgrade my phone. NO!! I don't need to. Mine works fine thank you!!

Without getting into the subject, all politics. Especially strangers who try to talk politics with me. It's none of your business and I am not interested.

I have a lot more, it might take about 15-20 pages for me to complete, and I would still have more.

How about some plain damn courtesy when driving? Some ass gets in their car and thinks they're the king or queen of the road.

They cut you off, then flip you the one finger salute (or two in the UK, I think), and run like little girls when you want them to pull over to discuss their sign language.

Another huge cell phone peeve of mine is when you see a Mother walking with her baby and she's got a cell phone glued to her ear. Talk to your child!!!
Drivers who don't use their turn signals, and those who don't return to the right lane after passing (left in some places) thereby plugging up the passing lane.
People who don't pick up their dog's poo. Sad

Justcold Are you talking about folks who are too lazy to use both fingers to flash a peace sign???

My pet peeve(s)

- People who always say "at the end of the day".
- People who say 24/7.
- The whole cell phone thing mentioned by others here.
And the biggest one: People with absolutely no spacial or social awareness. For example, the yahoos at the local Starbucks or other coffee shop that take up most of the space at the cream and sugar bar and casually talking to their friends while stirring and constantly tasting their coffee while 10 of us are waiting in line behind them.

The curse of cell phones is my PP. I hate trying to spend time with a teenager who has a "smart phone" and is texting their friends and everyone else on FB while I am trying to get to know them.

Payback works though, I don't give them Christmas or birthday gifts if they keep their attention on their phone. Twisted Evil

I also don't like people who tailgate motorcyclists. Then again, I don't like motorcyclists who give the rest of us a bad name by taking stupid chances..
