This is our most recent rescue. We think he is a Birman but we did not care when we picked him up. Spay or neuter your pet.

Connie All our cats seem to just appear walking up the driveway where I swear there is an invisible sign that says "FREE Food and FREE Home"

All our cats at present came to us as feral or strays. When a new one appears he/she is taken to the vet for spaying or neutering.

When possums appear (such as PF's entry) they are trapped and relocated miles from us. The possums are sprayed with an orange fluorescent paint down their backs before they are relocated.

All of our cats have either shown up at the door or been given to us as rescues. This one was from the pound and we chose him because of his personality. Visitors were not allowed the touch the animals but this one was making eye contact and using its paws to signal "Hey, come here and take me home."

Dover pictured here has since passed. I had him for over 12 years. He was adopted from the Humane Society. He was a Maine Coon cat who was an amputee (3 legs). One SIL suggested the names "Tripod" and "Luckey" but I stuck with the name the Humane Society folks gave him. He was a very very gentle loving cat.

This is White Cat (yes that's her name) adopted from a shelter, she's about 17 years old now, but still active, though not too smart (she meows to be fed when she has plenty of food in her dish)

This is our little Alpha Female. She showed up at the back door hungry, full of parasites and pregnant 14 years ago. She is the smartest cat I have ever seen. I spent 6 months teaching another cat how to do the "Lassie" for a treat. What I call the Lassie is where the cat sits up and raises a paw on command. Alpha Female sees the action once, says to herself, I raise my paw and get a tasty nugget? Hell, I can do that, and she does.

She also does the "Chair to Chair". That's where I point to a chairs and she hops from one chair to another multiple times on command.

The bad thing is that she was once a feral animal and will kill a bird or small mammal every 30 minutes if she is allowed out. I give her supervised outings for no more than 10 minutes every day. Goes out and scratches a tree and does her business and then comes home on command.

This is Molly Moo McGoo. She is a very stubborn cat. Just now, she decided to stuff her stomach so full of food that it swelled up and made her puke on my rug. I know she just does it to annoy me.

We could not agree on names for our cats, so we just call them Cat and Kitty.

We acquired Cat while living in Korea 2002-2005. It cost us about $700 to bring her back to the US. In her ten year lifetime, I think she may have spent a total of four hours outdoors. Stray dogs are rare in Korea, but stray cats are all over. Koreans have no idea why anyone would keep one as a pet.

Kitty was a shelter rescue we picked up in 2007 when she was about nine weeks old.

I may be selfish about this but I don't want anything to water or feed unless its a flower.

Our cat. He had been picked up by a raptor, then dropped (probably fought too hard for the bird). Everyone thinks he is big.

I always am forgetting to water and fertilize the flowers and plants, but never forget to feed the cats as they always remind you first thing in the a.m. and they know when it is 4 p.m. as they sit in front of their dishes WAITING or meowing and wrapping themselves around your ankles.

If the flowers/plants meowed and loved on my ankles, I might remember them! Wink

You all have (or have had) awesome cats.
It's also nice many of you have (had) more than one cat. Cats are social and they appreciate some company. Very Happy

Morgain's Sassy Lassy looks impressive - absolutely a stunning cat.
Cougar's Martha has been introduced us before this and she is always adorable - just like Cougar herself.
Piecrust's furball is like a sweet, sweet toy.
Yasterb's wolf... I mean, cat reminds me of someone very special and dear to me.
In my minds eyes, I could see PB's gorgeous Denver catwalking as a model.
White Cat, c/o the Fargo Family, has truly a beautiful colour and decent feline manners.
Connie's Alpha Female seems soft and huggable.
BearSeason's cute Tee is obviously a natural poser. (Is that a photo or a painting?)
Both of Lakeside's cats have fantastic colourings and I love the way Kitty is hanging on the shelf.
LuckyNoid is a familiar face on Eater and always so charming.
No garden would be perfect without such a lovely cat as Smarty, served by Inspector.
My Mentor's cat is naturally the most purrfect of all. Very Happy

This is Smiley, she's an 11 year old Manx and we've had her since she was a few weeks old (a rescue cat from the RSPCA). She's currently living in a cattery in the UK, but we're going to collect her and bring her to her new home at the weekend.
