It's a well-known fact that this year's VD thread is just an easy way for the Eater ladies to practice their baiting skills. You all know what that means - fishing trip!

Meeting point is the pier on February 14 at 6am (arriving the evening before and partying till we cast off is expressly allowed and encouraged). Everybody who wants to join in, please report here and state what kind of beverage you will bring. I'll bring the usual dozen cases of Ritterbock and Stella, plus chum.

I'm also happy to announce that I've been successful in finding an appropriate boat. Of course, for that unbeatable price some minor work will need to be done before we can set sail.

ETA: By request of the fire safety department, I must ask the unknown person who spiked the punch with premium unleaded last year not to repeat the prank. We've all had a good laugh, but I'm sure you all remember what happened when we passed the spliff to PF who was sitting next to the bowl.

@vampire, there'll be a barrel or two of Guinness. I'm still trying to get a good deal on the non-fizzy stuff (branwen will know the difference). Can you bring some weed and a bag of potatoes?

Draught is the non fizzy stuff. It comes out with an old fashioned hand pump. Weeds and some potatoes will be present too.

Minnows will work, but I prefer worms. And yes, I bait my own hook. The squirmier the better I say. Wink

Right now, I feel wooed by the fishing trip.

Over the years, I have been teased and appeased, but rarely pleased. Several of the ladies who I thought I wooed have disappeared from Eater.

I have not figured out if I am that good and once they have had me there is no more.

OR

If I am that bad that they are ashamed of having been seen with me in public.

One thing I know, FISH don't care. And if the fishing trip is REALLY good, neither do the fidhemen - fisherwomen. If it is a really good trip, no one really knows what happened. Shocked

I am going to request a non-smoking section of the boat. I have heard that second hand smoke can kill you and the only thing I want to kill is a couple of fish and a couple of gallons of the good stuff.

Actually, we don't need to recruit anyway. Sensible eater members will join us in our fishing trip no matter how much effort Ima is putting in her recruiting. Or should i say seducing?

Everybody in favour of extending the trip until December 31, please raise your hand now! Voting with both hands is expressly allowed and encouraged.

Oh, and one other thing - I though this goes without saying, but apparently some people don't care how low they have to stoop to sabotage our trip:

No VD couples on the boat!
(VD means Valentine's Day, so SOOI and PF are still welcome.)
