Because of the doubt within the "Do I have my lad off script?" thread I have spent most of this afternoon compiling the various conversations at 4PPL and my G-mail. I have a person who I thought could be a Vlad but because of the sincerity of her letter(s) I feel is a real person just wanting to find a good man.
Are there any guidelines on how to deal with this?
(My guess is drop them and leave them guessing why you never replied) |

I think a better way to do it B.A. would be to contact the person in question and tell them that your ex girlfriend or wife has decided they would like to give the relationship another chance. And as such you would like to now devote your time and energies to this second chance.Apologise for wasting their time and wish them well in their search for a partner. |

Thanks Mag(num....LOL),
Appreciate your response. It would probably be better than dropping her.

Yep. If in doubt, don't bait. |

I like the way you think Magnus! That is definitely better than just ignoring.
@Big Al I have a definite Vlad http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1792484#1792484 if you want to go after him. Another blonde named Elena. Google his email address and you will see why I say this one is a fact.
He does not really have much script right away though. |

The only problem with going that route is that if you are still logging in to your profile, she can see it, and if she is real, knows you lied. You want to avoid hurting the feelings of real people who are honestly looking for a relationship.
I usually go a simpler route than that. Anyone who contacts me who doesn't appear to be a scammer gets a simple response along the lines of:
"I've thought about it a lot, and I'm not ready for a long distance relationship. I have decided that I'm only interested in dating someone local." This way, my still active profile is not an issue. And, sometimes if they really are a scammer, they show their true colors then too.
Of course the non-scammer perverts are an exception. If they make a perverted approach, I have no problem completely blasting them. |

^I don't really have that option for my male profile over there since I stated I was looking for a foreign girl. I do try to be nice if they message me. I send something along the lines of "You are a lovely lady" and the rest really just follows what they did tell me. I may have some odds with religion or belief or something but I try to be nice to them.
If they only send a "Hi", "Hello", "Add me" or "Call me" I just delete them. |

For real people on dating sites, having somebody vanish is a fact of life.
Let the scammer do most of the 'love' work. They will.
I'm always pretty vague when it comes to gushing romantic crap and promising to come meet the scammer.
(Unless 100% sure it's a scammer...and in most cases you can be 100% sure within a few contacts if you know what you are doing)
Sadly we see many of our victims are too quick to get attached to some unknown person on the 'net. 'Vanishing' may slow them down a bit. |
