^^^ to Cougar: those are really fantastic lyrics. If you don't mind I'll try
an alternate version of the "Ladland" song using those.

Crochy is right, my mix did turn out a little muffled. But I slapped it all together
in 2 days. Day 1: record guitar & bass parts, Day 2: drum parts, vox, and
mixdown. Then I sent it to C.E. later that same night.

Sometimes when I think the high end might be too bite-y and annoying to
the ears, I overcompensate and roll it off. And while trying for a super-low
demonic voice, with evil Mwahhh, ha, ha laugh, it got garbled.

So I'm fixin' it in the next few days. Thanks to everyone Very Happy

^ Go for it. Maybe not with the demonic voice though, I kind of imagined a nursery rhyme sing-song feel for the chorus. Laughing

Brainiac: I know the feeling about going too far when trying to correct tone, but in the opposite direction. I have tendency to feel the highs aren't enough, then getting a horrible tin-can sound on everything! Razz

Hi everybody. To Cougar and Phil. When I read Phil's post of his lyrics on
Dec. 22, it said "needs some serious chug". Guess I thought that's the
music style we were going with.

I ran my voice through the guitar effects processor. The one that whammies
the notes down-ward by means of a foot pedal. It sounded kinda cool at first.
That's the reason for the demonic growling voice.

Now, realizing that it's too low, muffled, and hard to understand, I re-recorded
normally. And I just sent that version to crocheecher.

Meanwhile, I'll see if I can get the new version posted up at the mediafire
file-sharing site. If anybody wants their own copy as an attachment in an
e-mail, you can PM me here and I'll give you my e-mail addy.

Link works. I had trouble clearly hearing the words, but then I have trouble understanding the lyrics in any song, save recordings of Christmas carols, some c&w and 1960's songs. Laughing

@Brainiac - had a listen. Seemed at times that the drums, guitars and vocals were fighting for dominance, which was a bit confusing for my ears. Could you bring the vocals forward a bit, to make them clearer? Maybe also need to push the drums back a bit, let vocals and guitar come through more.

Just my initial thoughts, I am not a musician!

Those lyrics of yours, I would like to try adding music, and it definitely
lends itself to a different style altogether.

This last one, I was going by the comments. Phil said he wrote lyrics for
a metal band. The word "chug" was mentioned.

The "committee" seemed to agree on a hard-rock or metal style for
"Out of Ladland". So....eh....... moving right along here.

I quite like the way it turned out though, so no *true* complaints on my parts (I'm always nitpicky, must be SOOI's influence....yea yea I know, don't pick on the squirrel.)

I got something for Cougar's lyrics, a bit power metal/symphonic metal. I'll send you a sample in a little while.

I definitely like being able to understand the words in the current song though, and the semi-spoken vocals give it a bit of a baiter attitude, kinda how we baiters would probably talk to a scammer in person (with less expletives ) Very Happy

C.E. yes I figured that "chug" meant the heavy, palm-muted style.

You're not toooo nit-picky. There will always be comments to help with
improvements to any particular song.

I have received your sample. My HP printer is now not compatible with my
Win.7 tower. So I copied down the lyrics to "Love Lies Bleeding" with paper
and a Bic pen. But, that's a good way to become more familiar with lyrics,
rather than simply hitting the "Print" button.

Gives me a good chance to look them over while painstakingly writing them
down by hand.

^^^ @Cougar. Is it okay? The chorus states that "......love lies bleeding" Yet
your title was just... "Love Lies" Was that a comment on how the lad told lies?

C.E. told me on the phone yesterday that "Love Lies Bleeding" makes a good title.

Anyway, now I'll get to work on combining all the ideas together and see what
we come up with. (And there won't be a demon vox.)

Oh yes there will be. I'll attempt to do the vocals for Cougar's lyrics myself if we use my musical idea. Cougar seemed to like it. Said it had that "F You attitude" they wanted.

And just to be mean, that "chug" was referring to the guitars... in case you didn't know. Very Happy

Whatever you guys want to do is fine, you're the music experts. 'Love Lies' was just the name I filed it under, if you prefer 'Love Lies Bleeding' for the title that's no problem.

Crotchy - a 'bitter, f you vibe' doesn't have to be a demon growl - ever heard a playground get nasty? Laughing

Will try and work some more on the new lyrics tonight. Technically, how short/long do they need to be to qualify as a song?

Titles don't have to fit the lyrics, Nirvana taught us that.

If you want low and gruff, I've got the initial makings of one I'm calling 'Battlezone' - will have to see how it turns out. Also working on 'It could be you' (lottery lads) and 'Lion's Den'. And I had a thought today about trying to pull one together using quotes from baiters' sig lines, which would be a nice personal touch, but no idea how that would pan out - would need some major info gathering to start. Let me get the others out the way and I'll look into it.

Cougar. Yes I'm a big Python fan. scam, scam, wonderful scam.

And you can make the lyrics as long as you want. It's my prob. that when
I bought a new Dell Inspiron tower with Windows 7 in it. I was no longer able
to use my HP photosmart 1215 printer.
The old tower had Win. XP. (if any of the techies have thoughts ???)

I google-searched but nada.

I was playing with music ideas last night for Love Lies. Think I'll start recording
here in an hour or two.

Thanks to everyone for their input. ^^Crotchy, does "chug" mean guitars or vox?
(guess I'll never live that down).

Status update on "Love Lies".

Happy to report that I put down 2 guitar parts and a bass part. Talked my way
thru the lyrics. Used the built-in drum loops. So for tomorrow I'll replace the
drum machine with real drums.

So figger "Love Lies Bleeding" will be ready to send to Crotchy. He says he
will do the lyrics. I left room in the middle and at end for C.E. to solo.

Anyway, that means tomorrow my parts will be done and I will forward on
as basic tracks.

Making good progress. It was great to have lyrics and a riff or 2 for ideas.

I was going to write to C.E. but my Yahoo mail server is down. I'm getting a
404 error message. I was excited and wanted to tell him about the progress,
so...... Crotchy, if you're reading this thread..... mail tomorrow.

Don't worry, that will get old eventually. Unless SOOI sees the thread, then he'll rip us both up for something. Crazy rat..

As for the printer, the Deskjet 990c drivers SHOULD work, but you won't have as much functionality. I hear the Photosmart 7200 drivers support the 1215, but it might not. You can try adding a custom printer as well. I'll try to walk ya through it next time we skype.

Looking forward to the progress on LLB! in the meantime, I'll have the scam, scam, scam, beans and scam.

Its the percussive sound of metal used by everyone from Slayer to Mastadon

As in:

chug-chug
chug chuga-chug

Oh and "Screee" is the sound of solo. We need to agree on our notation! Very Happy
