Given this site's stand on racism, I am assuming that not many members have received the type of emails described in this news story. . Reading them made me think of the the "Hey, friend. I was mugged in London and need to pay my hotel bill and get home" scams we occasionally see.
My wife, who grew up in Louisiana, knew Mr. Duke when she was a student at Louisiana State University. She remembered him as a classic con man who believed the BS he spread.
The article alludes to some well-documented non-419 scams that Mr. Duke ran and served time as a consequence. Apparently he has not reformed.
David Duke ran for governor of Louisiana in 1991. The voters of Louisiana held their noses and elected by a landslide their former governor Edwin Edwards, who had been indicted twice on federal corruption charges.

He seemed to be bright enough to know the laws of the land before he went. Something’s allowed in the USA, doesn’t fly in other countries and visa versa. It’s much like scammers getting busted in Malaysia. They knew the risks and possible outcomes.
Putting aside his screwy beliefs, he’s always been a politician. So nothing in the story should be shocking.
Another aside, is Mr Duke claims to have a great love for his “race”, but he spends much of his time defiling it. He shares this with his contemporaries ( scammers ) in Nigeria.
