I have not really been active on this board for over six years but I think that is about to change. I just recently picked up a lad who mailed me and experienced the joy of telling him that the $600 I sent him has been intercepted by ... a scammer! Dammit!! Maybe I can send some more...
Brought back fond memories so I think I will try and devote more time to this most worthwhile of hobbies.
I have had a look around and it is nice to see that the numbers continue to swell and that the training is so organised etc. Who would have guessed that we would have become so professional about this!?!

Yeah. I traced down the proposed payee in the US and discover that it is a kind of online church which accepts donations and so therefore can pretend to be legitimate whilst accepting scam money. This is a new modality for me. Any suggestions on how we deal with that one? |

Gather evidence and report the site at: Fake Scammer Banks and Sites Forum, where it will be listed in the aa419.org database then (hopefully) closed. You can even do the closing yourself these days, the modalities for doing that are here. Ask Ima Baeder or whoever's arround for a site killing tutorial.
Hop to it, there's half a decade of work for you to catch up on, 'n' those scammers aren't going to bait themselves you know.  |

Thanks piecrust, I do have a bit of work to catch up on. I just spoke to a woman in Adelaide who lost $27K to one of these maggots.
The problem with the website is that it is legit. It is just that the person is now in a position to claim that any money she receives is a legitimate donation.
I will have to think about it... |

Somehow or other I missed this thread. Great to see you back, Lew. It proves that baiting is addictive. 
Baiting has indeed changed since 2003/2004. In many respects it has become more serious and less comical, but that's a good thing. There's always a way to incorporate some comedy, even if not as much as we did in the old days. The sad thing is that there are still endless scammers out there. The fight is endless. |
